I've been reading about a Franciscan monk called Padre Pio (died 1968), who was canonized by the Catholic Church a few years ago. There are many accounts of his being present in another location while he was still in his cell in his monastery and of instantaneous healings. Some of the people who witnessed these incidents were agnostics, or atheists, or had never previously heard of him. Of the three main biographical works I have read, the accounts seem genuine enough attested to by lawyers, doctors etc. When questioned about it himself, his reply was that it was 'a prolongation of his personality'. Since his death, he has continued to appear to others and cure them. I could dismiss the whole thing as make-believe, but I believe there is something going on here that we cannot explain, simply by the action of brain impulses and chemical releases. Maybe science will find the answer one day. In the meantime, I find it a fascinating phenomenon that individual consciousness can be present and active far away from its home base. |

Whenever "bilocation" occurs, you would want to ascertain whether it is really bilocation, or a doppelganger. Padre Pio was a bilocation case. Sai Baba is another famous bilocator. There are others. Some do it by conscious skill, some do it accidentally. Now for the part which will make you think I'm crazy. My wife has previously bilocated. Accidentally. Either that, or it was a ghost (or a doppelganger. Which is really troubling, but it was some time ago, and we've moved on from those sorts of issues). This was my blog entry, at the time it happened. I'm sorry the entry was so brief, but frankly I was scared at the time it happened, because at that time a lot of other weird paranormal stuff seemed to be happening in my home. Acting Like Godot: Weird Basically my little son saw my "wife" in the little room. He called out to her but she ignored him. He went towards her and tried to get her attention, wanting her help to get some toy for him. But at this point, she glared at him and made a distinct hand gesture in a somewhat aggressive way. But she did not say anything. He was upset and he walked off a short distance away, to the bathroom, to look for my maid. He started crying and said something like, "Why is Mummy acting like that." My maid said, 'Where's Mummy?". My son said, "There." In the same instant, my maid came out and my son cried out in surprise, "Mummy's gone!" All this while, my wife was actually with me in another part of the house. We were nowhere near that part of the house where my son had seen the mysterious "woman". We were actually quite frightened at that time. This was just the culmination of several weird events that had been happening in our home over the years. In fact, this maid was something like the 11th maid that we had ever employed in this home (over 7 years) - most of the rest had left after working for us for a short time, and had said that they had had assorted kinds of ghostly encounters in our home. But this time we were particularly upset because all along the strange incidents had only occurred to the maids ... and then only to my wife and I ... and this time was the first time something had happened to our son. Well, we've sorted it out (as of now). Mostly we got a fengshui person (who's also some kind of spiritual medium) to come do certain things in my home and things improved a lot after that. BUT ... there's more to say. Later it transpired that this might not have been the only occasion that my wife bilocated. By now you think I'm nuts, so I'm going to stop here.

There is also the possibility of an entity impersonating your wife to in order to cause mischief.
