Default The absolute best book on following your intuition

What is the absolute best book for someone to read to learn to follow their intuition? Basically a great book that you have read for someone who has never really read about intuition, so I can figure out how to decipher it, and make sure I'm not confusing it with anything else like Ego, falsehoods, etc.?

I know Erin has some posts, but I'd like to really delve deeply into this subject and study it.

I know in most subjects there are usually a bunch of books that aren't any good, and usually a handful of truly great books - and that's the books I'm looking for - the truly great ones.

I wasn't sure which forum to put this - none of the forums had listed "intuition" on their descriptions, so I figured I'd try this forum.

Seeker, you might enjoy learning how to read the Tarot -- there are three great volumes under the title "78 Degrees of Wisdom" by Rachel Pollack that I started with.

Manipulating the symbols of the cards is a very wonderful way to hone your skill in focus, flow, and love. It's not about predicting the future; it's about opening yourself up to your intuitive impressions, based on the energy that flows through the archetypal pictures. There are all kinds of different decks and each reader feels drawn to a deck for a particular reason -- my favorite is the old standby, the Rider-Waite, probably because it's featured in the 78 Degrees series.

Whether you read for others or only for yourself, you might find it to be a lovely way to be quiet and tune in. You can actually start using your intuition right away, rather than reading a book first.

Another vote for Andrea Hess's book, Unlock Your Intuition.

You can download the first chapter from Andrea's site, which is a good way to "try before you buy". If you want an overview of the book, have a look at Slade Roberson's review at Unlock Your Intuition — Book Review : Shift Your Spirits or mine at Woo-Woo Wisdom: Andrea Hess: Unlock Your Intuition

I thought Andrea's book Unlock your Intuition was great. It's a very practical book which focuses on dowsing, which is a wonderfully reliable and accurate means of accessing information.

I also like The Secrets of Psychic Success: the complete guide to unlocking your psychic gifts by Angela Donovan, which focuses on activating developing gifts like clairvoyance and clairaudience.

For absolute beginners, William Hewitt's Psychic Development for Beginners is very good.

Thanks everyone! Unlock your Intuition seems to have an overwhelming number of people recommending it, so I went ahead and ordered it on Amazon.com. I paid extra so it gets delivered before I go on my vacation next week

After that book, I'll probably take a look at Practical Intuition.

To those who recommended "Unlock Your Intuition by Andrea Hess." and use a pendulum as she suggested, I was wondering something. After you ask a question and get an answer, do you stop the pendulum from moving by touching it before you move on, or you simply ask the next question?

I haven't read Unlock Your Intuition yet, but I have used a pendulum before (it's been a while though...). I simply ask the next question and the pendulum usually responds right away. You can verify this for yourself by asking what your signal is for Yes and immediately after that the signal for No. With me it slows down and then changes direction and again picks up speed.

I have been working with a pendulum for quite a while now so the pendulum just knows to go back to neutral when I receive an answer.

But when I began, I found it helpful to say thank you for the answer and the pendulum would always return to neutral in response. Then I would ask the next question.

"Blink" is a fantastic book on the psychology of intuition. It may not tell you exactly how to use it, but it will tell you what it is and what it's good for.
