| This is from Oprah and Eckhart Tolle's week #9 online telecast: *What is the purpose of my life? What should I be doing? The answer doesn’t come from your head. It’s not something you think of. It comes from that space, being still and allowing the presence of the Universal energy, consciousness, to come through you in such a way that it’s a feeling as opposed to a thought. Be careful not to be in a state of dissatisfaction because the answer is unlikely to come. Keep your inner space clear and align with the Now so that no negativity arises. When you allow yourself to be still with it, unafraid of uncertainty, the Universe rises up to meet you. Coincidences may occur. You have to be alert in life so when the Universe opens up, you’re ready. It’s much more likely to come when in a state of clarity, aligned with the now. The answer can come from within or from without: perhaps a chance encounter, coincidences, etc." I experienced the above two times already... incredible coincidences. Just as explained above, those two times I was in a state of clarity and I sensed a strong feeling of conviction about my calling, what I should do right now in my life. It literally was a feeling like no other. The experience I had pointed me in the direction I should aim for in life. And it just felt so wonderful, so right, as if it was meant to be... as if it was already in existence and all I had to do was follow that feeling within. These moments of clarity occurred when I was fully and completely present. I no longer looked to the future for fulfillment because fulfillment was already in the here and now. But since then, it seems that perhaps the ego creeped in through the back door. At times, I find myself thinking about how different my life will be when I pull through with my calling. It's almost contradictory: I became "still" and found all the love and positive energy from within, and through that, the Universe sent me clear messages of what to aim for in life, my calling... but when I received the message, I now catch myself thinking ahead, "reaching into the future," imagining how my life will change for the better because of it. I was present-oriented for some time now, and then because of the messages sent from the Universe, I haven't been as present. How can I aim for my calling in life without thinking so much of the future? How can I just go with the flow? |

| I was grounded in the present moment: observing the sights and sounds around me without labeling; in tune with the inner energy field of my body, like breathing. Sure, at some points, thought would naturally come in. But rather than resist, I would welcome and allow the thoughts. I was the "observer" of thought as opposed to being fully identified to 'em. And for the past couple of months, I've been practicing Gratitude Level Two (Steve's fabulous blog, you have to check it out if you haven't already done so). At times, I'd visualize myself being fully and completely present. |

| Having a calling or life purpose is all about the future. Yes, it sounds like your ego is squeaking in there.

| I think you just have to trust the universe, then, and intend that you are able to follow through with this purpose. Then there is little reason to think about the future. However, I think there's a difference between only imagining what the future will be like, and planning for the future. You should set goals and plan, but not worry about how it will come out, because if you worry, you manifest what you don't want.

| What i got from Tolle's explanation of this,is that even while persuing your outer calling, you should still stay in the now, whatever you are doing at the moment, and put your all into that. Which will naturally lead you to the next step. You shouldn't "work towards" a goal, but rather "ride the wave" towards your goal. Make every step into a goal. |
