From my perspective, raising awareness is not about doing anything, except getting the egoic emotional and thought structures (beliefs) out of the way.

The identification of one's Self with the emotional and thought structures -- the belief system -- of the ego is the issue. So any method that helps you move out of that perspective, that avenue of awareness, will bring you home. That is why, I believe, enlightenment is a surety for everyone. I believe we are all enlightened already, just living as if we aren't. We're asleep to our 'real' nature, dreaming we are limited beings living in an experience where our separation from all that is has become our underlying primary belief (operating system). Since we created this egoic perspective of ourselves and our 'worldly' experiences, we are also very attached to it, entertained by it, often mesmerized by it, certainly in love with it.

There are many paths back to the truth of one's Self, because all paths lead to home. For some excellent reference materials, check out the Free Spiritual Resources thread in the resources section on this forum.

If each of us were a computer, it would be a matter of removing our current operating system, only to find there is another operating system already there underneath it. This operating system doesn't jive with the software we've been using (egoic beliefs), and the capacity for life with this operating system is expanded to infinity.

Get rid of the idea that Linear Time exists.

You are a Non-linear being, playing the game of remembering your Non-linearity in Linear Time.

(It's important to know exactly what Linear time means.)

Here's my newest favorite saying,to help me feel awareness,i wanna get this tattooed on me somewhere!:

"This,too,shall pass". In other words,EVERY single thing,person,material possession,feeling,emotion,event that comes into your life,is only temporary. The bad things,know that they will not last forever,and the good things,enjoy them while you can and try not to become attached. Underneath all this passing "content" is peace that never goes away,always try to be aware of that by realizing underneath the surface of life lies a space that encloses everything that is moving. Much like the earth,it's chaotic down here but reach out farther and there is peaceful space always surrounding the chaos.

I think the below comes from Tolle, or a blog describing from Tolle.
These can help with awareness.

1. Focus on what’s right in front of you.


Or around you. Or on you. Use your senses. Just look at what’s right in front of you right now. Listen to the sounds around you. Feel the fabric of your clothes and focus on how they feel. For the last three days the dark winter seems to have left us here in Sweden. It’s been clear skies and sunshine all the time. So I have been using the unexpected light and warmth of the sunshine on my skin to reconnect with the moment.


2. Focus on your breathing.


Take a couple of dozen belly breaths and just focus your mind on your inhaling and exhaling. This will align you with the present moment once again. You can learn more about belly breathing in this article.


3. Focus on your inner body.


This is a bit similar to focusing on your breathing. In both examples you focus on what’s inside you rather than the outside. What is the inner body? Well, I guess you could say it is energy inside of your body. How your body feels from the inside.


A practical way to do this just to focus on your hand. To just put your focus there and feel how the hand feels to you and how the energy is flowing through it. Yeah, this suggestion may sound a bit weird to the mind. But if you actually try it a few times you’ll probably find that inner energy within your hand.
