What Angela said is very compelling and I agree. If you're into finding "purpose" you should really research Virtue Ethics (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy). And if you can handle pretty heavy philosophy Alasdair MacIntyre's "After Virtue" will blow your mind, but it comes with a health warning: the boredom induced trying to understand some of his sentences may cause you to fall into a coma from which you may or may not wake up. But seriously, if you're a good reader that book is awesome. I personally wouldn't have made it if I wasn't doing a module on it for my degree.

Purpose ~ intent ~ goal, implies future.
Since future is nothing more than an illusory mind construct, then so is purpose.
Enjoy a healthy round of flattulence and forget about it.

In the world of form, things need to get done. Bodies need food to live, species must give birth to survive..etc.

That being said, you are not the doer.

I never really new what that meant until the other day when I dropped all intentionallity for doing anything and discovered things just spontaneously happening. What I came to realize is that identifying with thought and striving gave the illusion of doership.
