| As I am always exploring and adding new types of meditation and mindfulness techniques to my own spiritual practices, I am curious to know which types of meditation techniques work well for other people. |

I think anything that we do with awareness, just being in the present moment, is meditation. I used to go to work, get stressed out, and then look forward to coming home to retreat in meditation. Then one day I realized that I could bring that state of being into work. Things improved a lot (and later I changed careers!) I would like to reach the state where all of life is a meditation, but I haven't quite gotten there! |

I don't have a favorite meditation technique. What I do throughout the day is to focus my awareness on different dimensions. For example, I was walking thru the mall today and focused my awareness on the entire field of consciousness. On the drive home, I rested in the "no state state" or the "I Am" taught by Sri Nisargadatta. Feeling the body is also a great meditation. Another cool thing to do is to be as if you are a child at the circus for the first time. Everything is new for the child, there is little or no conceptualization. I will be as if what I am doing is for the first time (which is actually true). This gets me very interested in whatever I am doing and very present as a result. The key seems to be to know nothing about what you are doing or focusing on. Rhymthan |

The ones I do most often are Guided meditations and Trance meditations. I find guided ones helpful for when I'm having trouble clearing my mind on my own, but I think they prevent me from going as deep as I can with trance ones.

I didn't vote because I didn't see my choice up there. I do simple chakra meditation with no external sounds or videos to guide me. I've done the audios in the past, but only to learn. Now, I usually sit in a chair, close my eyes and visualize the chakras and their energy one by one. I'm looking to learn the sacred silence as taught by Grandfather Stalking Wolf (Tom Brown Jr has many books about him). Quick question. What is involved with affirmative meditation? |

| I guess that I would characterize that chakra meditation as a visualization meditation. I do a similar chakra one which involves visualizing colors before certain parts of the body. |

As part of reconciling those parts within that have not served me so well I have found guided meditations to be life transforming. There is one that I have used more than others and is a meditation where you meet each sub-personality, review its role in your life and reassign it a new role in order to bring it in far more a harmonious balance with your true nature. Most of the work I have done with people has been around the need to balance ourselves - both our light and dark side, I would say balance of what is, more so than changing what is.. Now I practice being still, quiet, just focussing on the breath in order to experience the power of spirit within. I try to make time every day but is still something I need to master! My website Your Soul and Life Purpose Can Be Found has some free meditations to download under the free inspiration section. Much love to you on your journey, |

I don't think I come under any that are listed. I usually use visualization (not videos) or just let whatever comes happen, which is splashes of moving colors most of the time. Lately I've started trying the meditate on a specific thought method as opposed to clearing my mind. Celtic or Native American music can put me in a form of an altered state though.

my meditation technique isn't up there either. i just observe what arises in my consciousness without assuming any sort of relationship to it. silent, no mantra, no focusing on breath or anything like that. i just let thoughts arise, and let them go.

---With this said, I have noticed that my inner connection with Women has helped with this alot. I love Women....period! I love watching their grace---their Love---there openess---their beauty---I just love the Beauty in Women (inside out) Watching women in action, helps me get in touch with an inner energy field that i cannot explain---And its not watching them in a lustful way. Its more like an energy hits me when I see a beautiful women. For those 5, 10, or however long minutes of watching women----I have no other care or worry. Just the admiration for their beauty. This helps me get back to the main focus. Which ultimately is--- all my needs are always met, I love life, and I love the oneness I feel with the world. | |
