I have recently (about a month ago) watched the secret, and have read some articles about the law of attraction. I have felt that the secret itself was very well explained, however I also felt that it did not have much scientific proof. Is there any scientific, or 'common sense' proof of the law of attraction. I am interested in trying it out. Thanks, Kai |

There isn't a scientific proof of it. But what you have to ask yourself is, is it possible that the Scientific or "common sense" point of view is incorrect? What I mean is, which viewpoint is closer to deciphering reality, the mystics POV, or the Scientist?

I just watched the phenomenal The Universe last night on TV. The main message I got from it was this: Scientific proof, in any given era, is a total crapshoot. Einstein, Boyle, Newton, Galileo, Copernicus, dozens of others whose names we don't remember as well....every one of them was wrong about something. My own proof is all I need to decide if something like LOA works or not. How could it be any different? The Law of Attraction is a personal, individual connection between you and YOUR source energy. How can someone else possibly prove to you if it works? Jennifer |

The "Law of Attraction" assumes a subjective reality to be true. The debate of whether the Law of attraction is true in fact objective reality v's subjective reality. This debate also exists in the form of Hinduism/Brahmanism(subjective reality) v's Buddhism (objective reality). There is no right answer because neither view is falsifiable and the premises supporting either side are incommensurable. Steve Pav recommends choosing to view the world as a subjective reality because it allows the possibility that objective reality can also be true. Hope this helps. |

Personally, I think The Secret is a schlocky, ego-centric patina over the top of something that's both more subtle and profound ... and that its primary value is that it helps move relatively unconscious people out of negative thought patterns with the false promise of candy-machine wealth and health. However, the very act of changing their thinking in a more positive direction often has dramatic positive effects in spite of the shortcomings of the presentation itself. Whether that is a testament to the power of The Secret or to the pathetic state of mankind, I leave to you to decide. --Bob

| Of course there is no reason why not to try it out, but to 'test' the law of attraction on a scientific basis is self defeating because that is to view the world objectively. Law of attraction operates only within a subjective reality.

Oh! I see now. The only experience I have had with the law of attraction before was the Secret, which made it seem like more of a religious thing rather than practical. But if it is more of a mind strategy, than it makes perfect sense. I think that I will definitely read 'Think and Grow Rich'. Thanks. Quote:

You're here to improve yourself, am I right? Something I like to consider when searching for answers to questions is did I actually want an answer or did I just want a confirmation of what I thought I already knew? Reconsider your analysis of LOA. I thought that too at one point. The correct use of LOA however is not meant as a 'mind strategy' though if it happens to act as one that is purely incidental.
