I would really appreciate your help and different perspectives on dealing with my work situation. I took a job as a full time training support for a company 2 years ago with the view to getting lots of experience in training and coaching so that I could go freelance at a later date. I also intended to build up freelance telephone coaching in the evenings as well. These things haven't materialised as I hoped. The work has a large admin element which doesn't leave enough time to develop many programmes or do many 1:1 sessions. I have asked for admin support but be flatly refused and the company culture is very depressed at the moment and likely to be down-sized in the next 12-18 months. Added to that my health has been so poor for the last year that I simply didn't have the energy to do any additional work. I'm sure I am in a vicious cycle of feeling down and attracting poor health so feeling more down etc. This week I realised I have emotionally checked out of my job, however I feel blocked from leaving. When I had a reading with Erin a few months ago she confirmed I was being prevented from leaving my job by my guides. But why that should be wasn't clear. Maybe that has changed now as the reading was a few months ago. So, I've seen a new job as a coach for a local personal development company advertised. On paper it looks great. However, when I check in with my intuition asking if this is a good job for me, I keep getting a 'no'. OK maybe there is something better round the corner which I'll miss if I go for this, but I'm sure I would be much happier with more interesting work. However maybe I need to create something even better that this? I can't think what the benefits of staying where I am are right now. I do my best to stay cheerful and postive and focus on good things, but the atmosphere there is tangible and drags me down at times dispite my best efforts. The only spiritual reasons I can think of staying are that I need to learn to be stronger in my positive focus and learn to use the LOA more efficiently, or that i need to meet someone there who will be important to me, but they haven't showed up yet. However none of these seems to really resonate with me. I should also add that i don't have the option of just quitting as right now we don't have enough savings to manage without my wage. Any other thoughts or perspectives would be very much appreciated |

Hey Holistic Star, Finding an excellent job match can be challenging for many of us! What kind of company are you currently working for? Is your direction health-oriented, which PD encompasses, or general personal development? Assuming you follow Erin's advice (which she has said is based on an image at one point in time), what could be a reason for your staying with your current company? Maybe a connection from that job will be helpful in the future. Maybe you'll unknowingly impact someone else. Maybe it's to keep you afloat till that great opportunity presents itself. Are there any lateral moves within the company that might suit you? I'm currently listening to podcasts from 48 Days - Your Source for Career Building! (practical career advice from a Christian perspective). The career expert basically says you should only leave a job if you have about 6 months of savings and a sharp focus on what you want to do. It's easy to move away form something but harder to move towards something. Sounds like you already know what it is you want. Good luck with your decision. Ok, so you just hit on what I do not only on a personal side, but also on a professional side. I'm an ordained Clergyman and a Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources, so your question is right up my ally. Normally, in situations like yours, I'd tell you to get the hell out as soon as you could find something with a more progressive company that would allow you to get more in depth with your inner coach and counselor. Doing corporate training is fine at first, but after a while all you're really doing is canned presentations and stage-work. There's seldom much opportunity to have any real personal impact with people. I get that more in Employee Relations settings when I'm doing performance management and conflict resolution. If you have the drive and ambition, there are a few companies out there that look for people like you to be both a personal coach and a presenter of truly impactful, life changing material. The problem is, you also have to sell it (that's where the ambition comes in). Check out Primeco Consulting, Inc. if you think that might be something you could do. However, you have said that in your Reading, Erin said your Guides are holding you in check. I never go against the advice and intervention of my guides...anymore. It sounds to me like you have some internal issues that you need to work through before you can be effective in the role you are seeking. A new check-in with your Guides, either on your own or with the aid of a Medium, is probably not a bad idea. Start working on good, specific questions centered around what you need to do to get into the work you're looking for. Ask what you need to change and most importantly how. "Seek and ye shall find. Ask and ye shall receive. etc, etc, etc..." Good luck! |

Thanks for your replies - they have given me much to think about and have been very helpful. Also Erin's post today about taking responsibility is useful too. I have made some major internal shifts over the last few months - actually several in the last couple of weeks. Issues around being 'deserving' and feeling guilt. I feel I have moved on from where I was since my last reading so that is positive and I've been reading 'Excuse me your life is waiting' and that has given me some great insights into LOA and how to use it more effectively. When I had my last reading I felt that I should stay in my job because I owed them that and also because I didn't feel good enough to move. I don't feel that now, so maybe that's what I had to work through before I could move. Also I have bought a Site Build It package and finding the process really smooth and easy. The new job would interupt that progress due to the travel involved. I think I need to work on really focusing on what it is I want as at the moment I''ve been doing a good job of manifesting what I don't! Thanks again |
