Heh, I made that point a while back, too. I don't mind such discussion, but having to sift through pages of off topic replies (at least, in a thread that's specifically about an event) to find on-topic posts about what the actual thread is about isn't ideal. But anyway...

Oprah's website is one of those websites created by people who don't use the internet. As such, it's a labyrinth of impossible navigation and silly thinking.

I was very impressed with Eckhart's presence. Many may say it's "weak" or, with a negative connotation, "humble." I say he showed tremendous power - you just have to notice it. Do you notice, dear reader, how with some people they look really confident, but if you take a good look at them you realize it's just smoke-screen or some messed up thing they got going for validation? Like they're being validation junkies? Well Eckhart's the opposite - you may not notice him immediately, but if you take a good look, his impression is that much stronger.

They talked about a few things. The theme was his first chapter. A lot of talk was about Christianity - which I felt was somewhat of a waste of time as many of the questions were about "Christianity and spirituality - bridging the gap" or some such. If the questions were more universal it would have appealed better. Nonetheless, I gained most out of this thing by seeing his presence.

Did you know Eckhart's 61 years old? He does NOT look it! He looks about 40 in my opinion, and maybe younger if it wasn't for the beard and clothes he wears.

I guess a youthful appearance is what happens when you have the light of presence shining through you (like he mentions in the book).

So I want to tell you something about Eckhart. Read his stuff very carefully. Because every sentence in his book really means something. There is absolutely no fluff or trivia in it.

ALG, I was reading A New Earth just before sleep last night, and I noticed the same thing -- there's nothing extraneous. Every word he writes strikes a chord. The Power of Now, too. Some chords are louder than others, but that seems to change with rereading. I seem to get to the perfectly perfect passage for me as a matter of synchronicity each time I pick up one of those books. It's amazing.

I was afraid his speaking voice would be grating or thin, but was happy to hear that I love his voice and his manner. Is he really 61? He looks so vital and youthful and boyish!

Yes, you are right. I've read many books that discuss ideas similar to his, but nobody else seems to be nearly as articulate. His prose is accurate and concise.

I am also blown away to learn he is 61. That is astonishing and really says something about the physiological effects of anguish.

I honestly think that because of actual health benefits today like medicine and good living conditions in the West, our actual aging should ALL be like Eckhart's...only most people are sto stressed out and caught up in their daily ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that they can't even see through that they age. It's continuous.

I think Tolle's appearance is superficial to the importance of what is being claimed by him. Isn't this webinar suppossed to help awaken people? What about the content of his teachings? What ideas are you referring to that are accurate and concise?

I relate to a lot of what Tolle says but I think we may all relate differently. For example, Tolle spoke of us not being our minds. To me this means my mind is not who I am, but the forefront of my consciousness. It is the part of me that brings awareness/thoughts/beliefs, even if that awareness is incorrect. It is then up to me to use my mind to discern my truth.

My mind used to drive me nuts but when I familiarized myself with my mind, I grew to love it. This to me is enlightenment, which is where Oprah and Tolle are hoping to lead others.

We're not pointing out Tolle's appearance to be supeficial - it's demonstrative of one of the things being "Zen" can do to the body. It's basically an outer manifestation of his internal peace - at least compared to the rest of society and its "lack of peace."

I agree. He exudes his own teaching - it's there in everything he says and does, and how he looks. Like I think somebody else mentioned, I find the videos/audio much easier than the books. I don't know why that is, but I think there's something in his voice and his delivery that strikes a chord. You can sense the silence that's just as crucial as the words.

The webisode doesn't contain commercials when it's broadcast (or whatever the word is), but when people watch the recording of it they see commercials. Also, there are advertisers specifically on the "Book Club" portion of Oprah's website.

I really enjoyed the fourth episode with oprah and tolle. It seemed more down to earth and easier to relate to. I found the 'role playing' segment particularly insightful. I fully relate to the mother role. I've been trying to shake it for years.
I have wondered before why some in the medical profession don't seem to listen to me. I have felt the dis-connection and didn't know why. I used to take it personally but understanding that people actually 'become' the role they are playing will change that.
Did anyone else relate to the roles in their own lives?
