| Hello everyone, I’ve got a story and a question for you.. About 3 years ago, I was living in Denver, making a good income in the IT business, and kind of enjoying my life as a 43 year old, financially successful, independent woman. I say “kind of” because although I had a good job, I was bored, and wanted to do something more creative. I was also tired of being alone, and wanted to meet someone who could enhance my life, and love me as much as I loved them. I had done the online dating thing, put out some profiles on Match.com, etc.. but nothing ever came of them, so I just forgot about it, and focused on living my life the way I wanted. As a long time Seth/Jane Roberts reader, I knew about the concept of creating your own reality, and I knew if I focused my thoughts and energy, I could create something new for myself. So, sometime in late 2004, I started meditating every morning on two desires: the first was for the Universe to show me a better way to live. I didn’t know what that meant specifically, except that I wanted to be able to get up in the morning and decide what I wanted to do for the day, and that I wanted a garden. I was sick of having to go to a job; I agree with you that it’s the dumbest way to make money. I just knew that my life was stagnant, and wanted to break out of the rut I was in. The second was for a man to come into my experience, someone with whom I could really relate, love and share my life. I didn’t try to pin down the details, I just focused on how I wanted to feel in these new scenarios, using what I call energy channels. When I meditate, I feel like I’m opening up an energy channel that extends from my body or upward (I’m usually just waking up when I do these). For each desire, I make the channel as broad as possible, and I “explore” it to see if there is any resistance to the desire I am focusing on. For instance, the boyfriend channel had some resistance in it in the form of fear. I had been in bad relationships in the past (haven’t we all) and there was some baggage blocking my desire. I really focused on clearing that out, working through the fear, and making sure that channel was “clean”. Well, the results were spectacular, and in grand Universal style, all swirled together.. In July 4th, 2005, I got an email from a man who lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming, which is about an hour and a half North of Denver. It was a funny email, and I liked his picture, so I wrote back to him. We began communicating, eventually talked on the phone and agreed to go to dinner a week later. His name is Clair, and we’ve been together ever since. A year after we met, we decided to live together. I sold my townhouse, and moved to his place in Cheyenne. And here’s the kicker. Clair is retired at 50 years of age. He has 12 acres of land, and has paid off his house. He lives the way I want to live – he gets up each morning and decides what he wants to do for the day. He a libertarian and his big focus is being self sufficient, so we started gardening two years ago, and this past year, he built 2 greenhouses for us. After a rocky first year, (we were both single for a long time and had to adjust to living with another person) we have become very good friends, and we love each other very much.. Pretty close to my original desire, huh? Because I have no debt, have money in the bank, and live with him, I am closer to my desire to decide my days’ activities. However, my income is still tied to doing work outside the house, and although I’ve taken the summers off the past two years, I end up going back to work when my checking account gets low. So for the past 8 months, I’ve been asking the Universe to show me a better way to work. I wanted to be able to work out of my house, and to have income stream into my bank account without having to have a “job”. Enter Steve's newsletter describing Site Build It. Steve, thank you so much for sharing that, by the way. I signed up, and have started the Action Guide to define my site. I’ve been going through the process, and looking at the demand/supply equation for a site concept that involves paying attention to signs from the Universe. I plan on writing about the “winks from the Universe I’ve experienced", and include categories about intuition, animals as vehicles for these winks, seeing 11:11 all the time everywhere, etc.. I’ve been searching on keywords like consciousness, intuition etc. and the demand numbers don’t look very strong. I don’t know whether I’m searching on the wrong keywords, or whether the concept is too broad, etc. When I compare this concept to say “casseroles” the numbers for a food related site are much, much stronger. Now I love to cook, but I don’t know how much content you could write about casseroles. So, having said all that, here’s my question for you. Since the content on this site touches frequently on these types of spiritual topics, and you all are here in support of that, I value your opinions. Would you be interested in visiting a site on this “wink” concept, built with lots of good content? My gut tells me that it would do well despite the numbers, but that may be my web cluelessness, SBI newbieness speaking.. Obviously people are interested in this type of material, or this site wouldn’t have the following that it does. (And by the way, Steve, I hope you don't feel that it is inappropriate for me to post this here.. please delete my post if you do.) Well, I’ll stop writing now, and add that I love this sight, am so glad it is on the web, and will continue to be a fan. I’m looking forward to your responses! Take care, and best wishes.. | I also joined SBI recently. I'm excited but can tell it's going to be work. But to answer your question I really like the idea of a website focused on "winks" from the universe. It could be incredibly useful. That said, I'd be curious as to how you'd both monetize it and drive traffic. No obvious answers jump out to me, although I'm sure there is a way to pull it off. If your intuition is telling you "this is it" and you feel ready to put in the time and dedication, I say to go for it despite the numbers. Of course, I'm just a newbie like yourself with this stuff , so don't put too much stock in what I say. If you haven't you may want to pose this question over on SBI's forums, where you may get more reliable answers. |

It could be incredibly useful. Especially if you feel you have exceptional skill in deciphering such "winks" or "synchronicities". That said, I'd be curious as to how you'd both monetize it and drive traffic. No obvious answers jump out to me, although I'm sure there is a way to pull it off. | Hi Missing, thanks for replying.. I'm on day 4 now, and it has been an exciting, depressing, frustrating, fun couple of weeks. It IS a lot of work, but I think it will be worth it in the long run. You definitely have to change the way you think about websites. I posted my question on SBI too, and got a nice reply that helped. Good luck with your website. |
