Default Feel jumbled up when I meditate...why?

I couldn't find an appropriate section for meditation...this seemed pretty close.

So, sometimes when I meditate, and this usually happens after 10-15 minutes, I feel either OUT of my body, or I feel like I can't tell where my body is. I mean, it's normal in states of relaxation to not feel your body, but where I sense everything is is completely jumbled up--like, I can't be out of my body because I feel and hear breathing, but I feel like "I" am to the right of my head and my breathing is to the left.

It's hard to explain, but it's very uncomfortable. It's similar to when I passed out without losing consciousness once and was lost in black.

Any ideas on what this is? Is this part of the process, or is there something wrong?

I am not an advanced meditator,i feel the same thing while i am meditating, also i know that it's a normal process in meditation, seems like you are doing right i think.I think you are feeling your real Self, and you are not aware of anything other than your real Self,it's real You i think. In that process, you are pure consciousness-awareness,which is aware of only itself, and it is limitless,so you don't feel that you are limited in a body i think. So you may feel that you are nothing and everything at the same time, you are feeling-aware of your real identity in meditation.
In everyday life, you give attention to your body, objects, cicumstances, problems and you become aware of them...But in meditation, you give attention to your real Self, and thus you start being aware of your real Self. When you don't have any thoughts, your mind stops and you are pure consciousness-awareness which is your real Self.

Oh that's the feeling I love most about meditation, when I lose sense of my physical body and am only aware of my energetic body.

It's very normal to experience that. In fact, when you do I'd say you're making a good connection. What's happening on some level is that you're releasing your grip on the physical and returning to the astral or non-physical. You're raising your vibration/frequency when you do that.

Nothing to be worried about. All good stuff.

Meditation is what helps bring you into vibrational harmony with your desires. So yes. It does help.

I like Erin's explanation.

Oberlee, if you feel uncomfortable a grounding exercise before meditation might help you. I'm not sure where to point you, re. how to, but you could search the net.

Sometimes I am unable to differentiate inhaling and exhaling. It all feels the same. It's weird and lovely at the same time.

Talking Thank you!

Thanks, everyone, for answering my post! I'm shocked to learn not only is it normal, but it's a GOOD thing. It feels icky and frightening, but that's probably my emotional issue. It's connected, I'm sure, to my inability to experiment with the astral plane because of intense fear of disconnecting from my body. The couple times I've tried and gotten close-ish and start feeling the vibrating, my heart starts pounding and I wake up. But that's another issue.

Thanks for the tip on grounding, dancer. I actually ground a lot--the one meditation class I took was psychic meditation at the Berkeley Psychic Institute, and for anyone reading this in the Bay Area--this place is the BOMB. I loved that class, and I often go to their Psychic Faires. So, I think I'm usually grounded when I meditate, but maybe not as much as I could.

I feel honored Erin answered my question! Yay! Now I'm excited to feel this again so I can work with it. Thanks again, everyone!!!

How does that saying go? Something like, "The schiznophrenic is drowning in the river that the mystic swims in happily" or however it goes.

But yeah, once you get over the fear you'll be free.
