| The last couple days I've had a massive awakening. I realised that the "one" I call myself isn't really me at all. The one that decides I'm going to go brush my teeth, or go out to eat, or party with my friends really isn't me at all. After reading this post "people don't really need you to talk to them for them to react/respond -- a lot of what they say to you isn't about what you've said, but their own personal conditioning that they just play out." I realised that I'm doing the same thing. I'm acting out what I previously learned from other experiences, and have no control over it. Then it hit me from an article I read from steve. http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/200...-under-attack/ The thing that steve describes there is what real consciousness is. That infinite space in reaction time or no-time is what real consciousness is. I hope this post will help out a lot of other people...cause I know steve's article definitely helped me alot. |

| When I figured this out it scared the .... out of me for about a month. I guess I became afraid of "myself" (other self) moving not because of me = conciouness, but rather that I became aware of it after the fact. I'm not the one really moving and such more of just an observer and it feels like its coming from me. And it's even more scary when put into the context of physics. Still does scare me sometimes. I just choose to live in the illusion that I choose the things I want to do when I need to get things done or just want to "go with the flow" and have fun. (though that assumes that it is me that is doing the choosing... well I'm just happy that I/my brain/ choses correctly and that I dont get stuck in not accepting the illusion, because otherwise I'd go insane...) Maybe I'll describe how I know this sometime. Last edited by Sunnybayes : 01-25-2008 at 02:50 AM. |

| I doubt that consciousness is what anyone thinks, including those such as yourself who have experienced this sort of epiphany. Which isn't intended to detract from your experience at all, nor from your new-found understanding; they're both fantastic. But don't be fooled into thinking you now know what 'real consciousness' is. You've simply moved a label from one abstract concept to another one, and perhaps gained a slightly better understanding of both in the process. |

Yea I understand what your saying...even though I'd had this realization I am by no means fully conscious. I realize it'll most likely take me a long time to reach that state, since I've spent so much time in building up this false self. Nevertheless I will keep working at it and try to make a better life for myself. |
