| For many years, I have occasionally had this weird feeling at the top of my head, particularly in situations where I try to meditate, talk about meditation, or things to do with healing (conventional or otherwise). It's kind of not really like pain, but it is really weird feeling, and it makes me squirm. Thinking about it makes it worse so I'm not sure I am going to be able to get through this whole post without going crazy! It used to happen when I was a teenager at least, then mostly stopped for a couple of years, and now has come back more - but now it can last for days with varying intensity. It is quite intense now, and almost feels like the top of my head is sort of tingly-numb. It kind of feels like I have a really gross hole in the top of my head. Deep breathing usually increases the feeling at the middle of the breath. I thought maybe it was something to do with the chakra (only because it is all I can think of and I am desperate for it to go away!). But all I can find about chakra is how to open them. The only advice I ever got so far was that it might be TOO open, so I don't want to make it worse Any advice? Sometimes it is so strong I wonder if I'll go mad or need to be sedated if it gets any worse. Or at least take up some serious drinking until it goes away. PS: I have no doctor-identified health problems, nor any mental health problems or obvious instability there Last edited by standgale : 01-24-2008 at 01:32 AM. | This would imply, however, that it is blocked (from some website) "When the energy of the Crown Chakra is blocked you feel destructive feelings, a constant sense of frustration, and the need to continue on a perpetual spiritual quest. A person with an obstructed Crown Chakra can suffer from mystical depression, environmental sensitivity, migraine headaches, exhaustion, and energy problems." I feel constant frustration (and stress), general miserableness, and tiredness and energy problems! Environmental sensitivity too, but then I also correlate highly with the symptoms of Asperger's syndrome (ie. self-diagnosed), and I don't think autism is caused by chakra blockages. |

| Well, anyway, I have started focusing my meditation on the root chakra and then I can do it without increasing - and it even REDUCES - the uncomfortable feeling. If I work up the chakra then it becomes more and more uncomfortable and I only managed to focus for a couple of seconds on the top of the head one before it became unbearable. However, I can now think more freely about it and focus on that area without so much side-effects so I think it may be helping in general too. I am quite joyous actually, to have worked out how to deal with this feeling that has plagued me (if intermittently) for so long and now I don't have to worry that it is going to get out of control (did I say before that it sometimes prevented me from sleeping?). My reasoning was that if it did have anything to do with chakra, and if it was too open, then the thing I read about chakra over-compensating for closed chakra might apply - maybe it was overcompensating for others that were blocked. So, thus, I decided to try and open the others and balance things out. Of course one starts at the bottom or base, and then will work up. Whether that reasoning has any bearing on what is actually happening I don't know. I thought maybe it was merely a case of distraction - by focusing at the opposite end of the body - but being able to write this post and think about the problem without causing so much exacerbation of the problem as would have occurred before, possibly points to more than simply being distracted from the problem - since I am NOT distracted from it right now. Obviously no one is interested in this thread, but I thought I should comment on my solution in case it is ever useful to someone. |

Have you looked up what the 7th means and what they write as characteristics of an unbalanced 7th? Do you fit the descriptions? |

| Hi The tingles at the top of the head may well indicate the chakra opening up but the bad feeling you are having with it may be that you need to tune your other chakra's first. You really seem like you have this figured out already by focusing on the root chakra which is what I would have automatically suggested :-) The reason I would have suggest this is that you need to be grounded to open up to spirit (open the crown chakra). Without that sense of grounding you can like you are all over the place and it can be very disorientating. It's rather than a tree having roots that are too short - the taller it grows up towards the sky, the more likely it is the wind will blow it over! When you feel more used to the feelings of opening and closing the other chakra's you will probably feel more able to deal with the sensations in the crown. When closing chakra's an easy way is to imagine a flower closing in the colour of the chakra you are working with - like a flower going to sleep at night. The stone hemetite is very good for grounding as is smokey quartz.

| You seem to know a lot about the chakras, so I apologize if you already knew this, but there are a lot of good websites out there about chakra cleansing, healing and balancing. Perhaps one of those could help you out? I'm fairly new to meditation and chakras so I can't offer you much more than that. Good luck! |
