What do you folks think about the Global Consciousness Project?

It's a project run at Princeton that's see if there is some kind of global consciousness on our planet.

Background:

For the past 30 years, parapsychologists have conducted research on how human thought influences the material world. In one such experiment, they had subjects try to influence the output of a random data generator sitting in the room. What they found was that human thought could influence the output of the machines on a very small but statistically significant level.

Expanding on this, the Global Consciousness project has placed their data generators, called "eggs," all over the planet in an effort to detect collective human thought on a large scale. They're all networked with the mainframe at Princeton which collects and compiles the data.

Some of their results have been intriguing to say the least. On 9/11 for example, there was a huge spike in "activity" corresponding with the first planes hitting. And this activity started before the first plane hit.

What do ya think? Personally, researching this project was what triggered my change from an agnostic into a spiritual person.

At any rate, it's very interesting. They don't make many claims on what their data reflect, and admit that experimenter bias could be present as well. Their methodology seems sound.

The idea makes total sense to me.

I read a book this month called the "The Tipping Point." Part of it described a scientist who was analyzing human non-verbal communications.

He took this 4 second slice of film from a family sitting around the dinner table and analyzed it in detail, frame by frame. Even though it was only a four second clip, what he described was how immense the breadth of communication was, how you could see non verbal cues get passed back and fourth between each family member as they moved and motioned around each other moment by moment.

We are all involved in a massive dance, with so much choreography that we take for granted. In my opinion that's why thoughts create reality, and why beliefs create action. When you change your mind about something, when you change your reasonings, you change your entire dance. I believe changing your dance in this world sets off a ripple that affects much more than conventional wisdom would have you believe.
