| Has anyone else noticed the total lack of effectivness in today's school system? I must have learned half the things I need to know from the internet. And a bout 1% from school. Its an almost total waste of time, if it wern't for the social and moral things you learn I would say it WAS a waste of time. Everything can be self taught these days. So I guess what I want to ask you all is. How do you beat a system that is so corrupt it drives all those even slightly aware to insanity? |

| Are you speaking of the Post Secondary education system or the Kindergarten to High School system? I think more then anything the school system teaches kids how society works more than anything. Highschools are like a microcosmic version of a little country complete with popularity contests, politics, high-school romances, fights, etc. It's not so much what you learn from the teachers, as much as what you learn surviving through the experience. Even then, once highschool is over and you go out into the real world, it hits you like a tonne of bricks. It's kind of like a mini preparation taking you away from the "fair" and "sheltered" world your parents had for you at home. Then there are some usefull things we learn like Math, and English etc. We can learn from the Internet, but not if we can't read. -Paul |

| I'm at insane... But I think the trick is to find something else to do at the same time. The main reason I've made so much progress on my reading backlog is that I go through it during the lectures.

| The education system in this country needs to undergo some major reform. I’d say 80% of what we’re taught is useless. We’re not taught essential life skills, like handling finances, harmonious human relationships or how our mind works (which would be a big help in living happier). The education system is a joke, it’s created to take people only so far. When I learned about the law of attraction and how you can use your mind to get whatever so you desire, I instantly thought, “this is something I should of learned in school.” Instead our education system does exactly the opposite and helps in killing our imagination. It teaches you to think in limiting ways. Our government is responsible for the educations system. Our government is controlled by large coporations, which give poiliticians kickbacks. The government in return, is structured to keep those corporations in business. One way they do this is by providing them with a workforce. Our education system only takes us as far as working for someone else, for a coporation. The textbooks used in school come from these large corporations, thus they have control over what is and is not taught in schools. Obviously they are not going to teach us how to think for oursleves, because if we did know our real potential there’s no way we’d stick around to be their bitches. This education system fills society with lies, making them believe there is a limit to what they can achieve. It’s not created to make you grow, thus you see the same subjects and themes representing themselves over and over throughout your whole educational career. It has emprisoned us.

| I have a feeling that the school system is all about standards and life is not about meeting standards the government, of all organziations, set out for us. Test scores are meaningless in the real world for the most part, but I found that school is just an array of tests. Tested on this, tested on that, but then we forget most of the things we've learned because we learned them just to pass the test. Not to mention that most of the things they have us learn are worthless unless you're going to be a teacher. I have a big problem with education in general. Education really does interfere with learning what you want to learn. It is so rigid and unforgiving. You have to conform to someone else's standards to "pass," when they have no idea who you are or what will make you successful. It's all a big, giant hypocrisy. |

| Andrew that is right. but I am stuck in this system and its taking its toll on my physically and mentally now. Its becoming a problem. At least soon I can go into optional education and learn something useful! |

| Mark Twain: "Never let your schoolin' interfere with your education." If what is being taught is useless to you, learn something else in that moment. Try figuring out how to teach a particular subject better, or how to test for successful learning. Try determining what the teacher ought to do to control that class clown, or understanding why people talk during class despite repeated warnings. Heck, try to see if you can guess why the teacher has particular things on his desk, or why the room arrangement was done as it was. From every given situation, there is always more to learn than you could possibly absorb. Maybe you could figure out a supremely discreet way to pass notes during class. I use AIM.
