I wrote about an easy way to quiet your mind in my blog, but I wanted to get the word out because I feel it works so well it had to be shared! Basically all you have to do is focus your awareness on the point just below the top of your skull. And as you do this your mind becomes wonderfully still. I love this technique because it gives me a much needed break from all the mental noise going through my head. Let me know how it works for you! With love, Ben |

well, what I heard about is focus on the middle of one's forehead, saying that there's where thoughts arise. That one had worked for me. Btw, I think (or better, I experienced) that all thoughts are the expression of personality, and ego (I do not mean that the ego is "bad", eh! ok? Thoughts cloud our view. But, I wanted to make another point. Thoughts can be helpful in recognizing what's going on in us because most of the time those thoughts are well dressed: with our feelings. So, watching them while they pass by (in focusing on the middle of the forehead- [once I will try "your" technique]), this gives us some insights, not always very pleasant, but healing. Watching them without interfering also leads them to pass and go. And thus frees the mind without suppressing thoughts or feelings. That's another "method". From another website/another spiritual teacher. Last edited by estrella; 12-17-2007 at 09:24 AM. | |

Accompany focusing "between the eyes" with a deep breath and you are there. Add to it a feeling of gratitude or appreciation - FOR ANYTHING or ANYONE and you are in a wonderful, positive and calm state ready to deal with the world around you! With gratitude.... |

I find that the best way to quiet my mind is to observe it spinning like a top until it finally loses its momentum. What a lot of you are talking about is a basic meditation technique. Whenever you find your mind off running around in some thoughts, notice that, and bring it back to a focus point. I do this when I'm running, and it's very pleasant and helpful for endurance. I don't try to force it to slow down, because it might still have things it needs to process.
