I have for the first time in my 46 years I have started to finally begin to figure things out (thanks in large part to Steve and this forum). In any event I now, more than ever, have more questions than answers but feel that I'm finally on the right path for lifes answers. One of the things I'm still wrestling with is the connection of spirituality with laws of the universe (ie Law of Attraction, Vibration, etc). I do believe these laws (at least the ones of I'm aware of) but who created/established these laws. Was it God...if it was, will I find these laws in the bible. How do these laws (or are they even suppose to) co-exist with the Christian faith. Do you have to believe in one at the exclision of the other. Did Jesus Christ ever make reference to these laws. I am also curious, as my title suggests, if Steve believes in Jesus Christ. |

If you want to learn about Jesus, pick up a modern Bible (no ye's, thou's, thee's and thine's). I'd recommend a New International Version (NIV) or the Clear Word. The Clear Word isn't an actual version of the Bible, but it's quite pleasant to read. I really don't enjoy reading the KJV or old versions that are from Shakespeare's era. I'd start in the New Testament book of John (easiest to read, in my opinion) or Luke. The first four books (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) are fairly similar, they basically tell the same story just from different perspectives. |

I think most people believe in Jesus Christ. Heck, I'm an atheist and believe Jesus Christ existed, I've heard there is hard evidence showing this. There is no rational basis to believing he performed miracles or was a higher power though, that is the province of faith alone.

I can't answer your question about Steve's belief, but with regard to the Law of Attraction and the Bible: Jesus said in Mark 9:23, "Everything is possible for him who believes," and in Matthew 17:20, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." This aligns very closely with the central concept of the Law of Attraction, taken from a personal point of view: that if you place your faith in a certain thing, then God/the universe will make it true. I don't really want to speak for Steve, but the impression that I get from his writing is that - he believes Jesus Christ existed, and while not necessarily "the son of God" and all that jazz, was (is?) a super-enlightened person. Perhaps Google has the answers? The first link looks promising. Edit: here's a Steveism I found: "Jesus is like my spiritual battery, my ultimate role model for personal growth". Nonetheless, using my ability to remember far too much from Steve's blog posts and articles, along with the help of the Google search bar on Steve's website, I can present you with something, which is an extension of what Andrew Russell linked to above. In the Ask Steve series Steve featured on blog this year (2006), Steve answered the visitor question "What Religion Are You?" in the Ask Steve - What Religion Are You? blog post. This was part of his answer (to see his full answer read the entire article I liked to previously): Quote:
Make sure that you use the Google search bar on Steve's home page, though, as the search bar on Steve's blog is, in my opinion, not as good as Google is at hunting down certain words and phrases. Simply typing in "Jesus" in the Google search bar (on the home page) brings up the article I linked to above, along with a excerpt from the article, as the 8th result on the list. It may take you a while to get become efficient with using Google, but once you do, it is an invaluable tool (at least, I think so). If you are having trouble finding something, here are some recommendations based on my experience with Google:

Well, there is a proverb (can't rember the index): "As a man thinketh, so he is" Also, there's the whole... Seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall opened, etc, etc. Finally, the "faith of a mustard seed" and the literal proclimation that you can move mountains. At a cursory glance, all sounds LoA to me. |
