Call it what you will - intuition, Higher Self, God - I'm getting a lot better at hearing it, listening to it, determining if it's really my Higher Self or ego, and then just accepting it and going along with it. This is just a "little things" example. (Well, actually little things that could have been a bigger thing). As I left school yesterday evening, the thought "You should stop and get gas" came into my head. I was tired, it had been a long day and I was eager to get home. I really didn't want to hassle with the gas station at 5:30 pm when it was sure to be crowded. I just wanted to hop on the freeway and make my (normally) quick 30 minute drive home. And I believed I had just enough gas to do so. I reminded myself that I've conciously been making more of an effort to heed my intuition and perhaps I should just do as it said. So I stopped at a station prior to the on-ramp. As the (14 cents/gal cheaper than at home) gas pumped, I went inside to get a cup of coffee. Standing at the register, a bin of discount CD's caught my eye. I picked up one called "Great Chicago Blues" and put it on my tab. Back to the car and onto the freeway. Which promptly! shut down in grid lock. For two hours (TWO HOURS!) I crawled towards home eventually passing the massive accident along the way that had both north and south bound lanes closed. It's not likely the little bit of gas I had would've have been enough to make it through that marathon. I made it home in a happy frame of mind. I did not run out of gas in the mess on the freeway. In fact, I got cheaper gas than they're selling near my house. And I had a fresh cup of tasty coffee and some excellent blues to keep me occupied on the drive. I wasn't stressed at all. (Certainly not like one guy I saw who was pounding his steering wheel and cussing a blue streak - I could read his lips!). What has your intuition done for you lately? |

Hi there, It could be your guardian angel whispered to you. I don't think there is any self higher than you are in your present life. When you live a wholesome life or the good deeds that you had from the past, the angels or celestial beings see that you worthy of their help. If you pratice meditation to purify your mind and live a wholesome life, you will attract more helps (celestial beings and human beings). It's happening, because you are worthy of it. Best Regards; Johnny |

Wow, cool story. Not only did you not run out of gas on the freeway (that would have been a nightmare, I don't know the logisitics but I bet it would be a pain to get gas into a stranded car on a crowded freeway) but you had new music to listen to and coffee to enjoy the show. On TOP of this, you proved to yourself that listening to your intuition works, so you are more likely to trust in yourself even more, on top of THAT, you shared the story with others and I know what you say rings true for me, this is the type of thing that happens when you let go and "listen". Contrast that with the guy who was blaring his horn and freaking out, I think you came out ahead. |

wow I am so proud of you Lola, you epitomize what I've been hoping to teach people; to listen to their intuition even when you don't always have a logical reason to. What a great example. Thanks for sharing with everyone reading. |

Part of my motivation in telling the story is to continuously add to my memory bank of consciously and successfully heeding intuitive nudges. Positive reinforcement and all.

Spirit has directed me to become more in tune with her intuitive aspects... It was really through Her that I came to email Steve two or three times, and it was through Steve and Erin's articles and such that I have developed a greater aspect of who I am, who I truly am, rather than who I though I was, or even who I wished to be. I haven't connected greatly to Spirit, but I am closer on my journery than I was. I am now able to educate people about the importance of religious tolerance and I am also able to be more in direct connection with my purpose. It is through the guide of Spirit (intuition as you call Her) that I have been able to find new employment in Bona Vista Programs in Kokomo, Indiana. It is through her that I am meeting new people. And it is through her that I have found music that soothes my soul. I have a lot of work to do, but I am able to tune into her nature more so than I have been able to do for the last two years.

Another aspect to look at is that maybe you could have been in that major accident had you not stopped. Intuition rocks. I am so happy for you that you've become good at singling it out. I hope to get better at it myself.

It's funny that improving your ability to hear your intuition takes practice. And presence. Seems like it ought to be, well, intuitive! What I've learned is that it's been here all along. I've even heard it quite frequently. But if it didn't fit with my pre-conceived notions of right and wrong or if it didn't seem logical, I shoved it in the closet and nailed the door shut. Can't have anything around distorting the "facts" of things!
