Can someone give me an interpretation of a bible passage?

For some time now, I've consistently been catching the clock right at the precise time of 11:35, both am and pm. I like looking at things from different angles... after looking into it, I found "Daniel 11:35." I don't understand the translations. Can someone give me a layman's interpretation please?

I'll take a crack at this.

Daniel 11:35 is significant. Up until verse 35, Daniel is describing events from the past regarding the wars of Alexander, Syria, Egypt, Jews, etc. That was the past. From verse 36 forward, he begins describing the end of times prophesy, which has yet to be fulfilled. Verse 35 is that turning point.

In that specific verse, Daniel is explicitly stating God has chosen a time when it will end, and now is not that time. Insight or wisdom refers to His followers who understand what's happening and believe the word of God. Purge, of course, means death or to be beaten down. White refers to holy, or those who've earned God's grace. He's describing an iterative purification process his followers must endure until the chosen time has arrived. God invokes suffering by delaying the end and allowing his believers to live in the shadow of the anti-christ to achieve that end.

I think dcaldwell's explanation was very good. This site is a pretty good resource, too, with some good historical info to supplement what the bible states (check the section in yellow just below v.35). It basically indicates that verse 35 is wrapping up a prediction of difficult times ahead for the Jews and that even those who are wise will be put to the test, but the end result will be that they get purified, not necessarily defeated. I'm not sure that "purge" means death, but probably more like a purging of worldly behaviors or thoughts. It seems implied that they will emerge victorious, but not before some long, hard times have passed.
