I watched The Secret for the first time the other day... for those that have seen it, it is based upon the law of attraction. ABout how we attract what we want into our lives. My first impression was that this is a cheesy salesy load of rubbish... A man talking about needing a parking space, so he imagined he had one and then got one... and the same guy wanting cheques in the mail... so he got them... it just seems so far fetched. Anyway... i still wanted to give it a go. I want to produce house music and I want financial wealth in my money. SO i woke up and imagined myself as if i was a top music producer and a wealthy one too... That very morning, two things happened to me: 1) A girl who i was going to make music with before got back in touch and said she had been thinking about things and that she wanted to start making music after all (total U turn) 2) I had a meeting with financial advisor who found a legal loophole that could save me tax on 75% of value of my business when it's sold (this could amount to hundreds of thousands of pounds). Was this coincidence? Who knows? I just wondered if anyone else had seen it and what your thoughts were on it. Phil x |

The results you're talking about are completely normal. I've created all kinds of stuff like that and more. In the beginning you'll probably doubt LoA so you'll create stuff simply for the purpose of "testing" whether it works. I did that as well and I created some crazy stuff that baked my mind. Nowadays I don't need to test it anymore, so I only "use the power" to create stuff I actually want/need.

I think a big part is detachment, the visualization works, but for instance with parking, traffic, I just kind of sit there. I don't say "there will be a parking space right there" I just think more "yeah, I bet some car will pull out soon, yeah there it is cool", same with traffic, being in lines, "yeah this line is ok whatever, I don't mind standing in it, but I bet in a second it will start moving, yeah there it goes ok I just paid now I'm out the door." I am learning that although visualization is important (in the RIGHT WAY) over-thinking it, can attach you too much to the exact way in which it will manifest, and you get impatient and that impatience blocks the flow. BTW good luck with the house music producer career, that's sort of my goal as well. |

I wonder why I attracted skeptical people? Probably because deep down I still have doubts about The Secret and the people skeptical of The Secret are an outward representation of my inner skepticism that I have attracted into my experience. ergo, The Secret works! |

| LOL, another beginner. I've been attracting beginners like crazy, this past week. Hey, Phil. Get a notebook. Write down your thoughts every day. Then record events and incidents as they happen in your life. And watch the coincidences pile up. It's a kind of magic. |

It's amazing how the LOA works. The other day I told a friend that I wanted to break 90 for a round of golf. I'm at about 104 right now. I thought about it all night. The next day I was work and was talking to one of my customers. He was wearing a hat from a golf tournament that I went to that featured Tiger, Phil and Vijay. Turns out that he worked at the golf course and new of someone who could give me lessons. Coincidence? I think not. Keep creating your future.

The movie, The Secret is really not that much of a revelation. It was more of a re-awakening of what people have known through out the ages. From Greek philosophers to the self help gurus we see today and everyone in between have one thing in common. They know that thoughts become things.

Your two manifestations were obviously there before your thoughts, or on their way. Maybe you just became aware of your previously unconscious creation? Quote:

I remember browsing through self-help books in the early 70's - they were best sellers. Were are they now? They all essentially said the same thing: you create your own reality. I browse through the bookshelves today - books by Abraham Hicks, The Power of Now, etc. It's just restated in a slightly different way to appeal to the mass market. Things happen because we have sown the seeds for them to happen in our subconscious. Nothing can happen otherwise. Whatever happens in external reality is just an unfolding of the ground we have prepared at a subconscious level. If the conditions are met for something to manifest, it will be manifested. It's the old adage: "If it can happen, it will happen".

Many people get hung up on many of the concepts as presented in the movie; It still has a lot or merit and has promoted a great deal of interest and discussion, like with all things consider the source . For the best information I reccomend taking a discipline course of study and going directly as posible to the source of the information. Which in the case of the secret is "The Science to Getting Rich" by Wallace Waddles 1910 which you can get on amazon. It seems that we all tend to see what we want to see and that really is the empowering message here but the movie didnt address many of the princibles layed out by Waddles and his study of success. But it really is pure magic .... Take some time to educate your self and explore the concepts . Attraction Based thinking will open a whole new world for you it really isnt about the subconscience . We are Talking about deliberate use of your creative potential and intentionally moving from thought into form through a deliberate process. How it "happens" is by giving up contol and letting yourself go with the flow of it. |

I've really been this lately. I stay focused on God, higher self, Universal energy, whatever you want to call it. Basically, I silence my mind and if I find any type of interference I go back to focusing on God. I go about my daily tasks, expecting everything to work out in my best interest. All my desires are there in my mind, I only need to ask once. I then Allow It, by keeping my mind silent and observing as the world unfolds it self. Accepting and being grateful for whatever is given to me, knowing all that I desire manifests in due time. One thing I really struggled with was being impatient. Wanting my desire to manifest NOW! I asked myself questions like "why hasn't it manifested yet?" and "why isn't it working?" The truth is you can manifest all you desires, but the Universe has a timeline of it's own. I've learned to expect it until it arrives, and it will surely arrive! Keep Attracting!

Yeah, I only saw about the first have of 'The Secret'. I believe in the power of attraction, but I thought they went about this movie in an ineffective way. The movie made it seem as though you could just imagine what you wanted, like a bike or a house, and it would come to you, without you doing hardly any work. I think Steve's articles on intention manifestation are a much better representation of how LOA works. The movie just seemed too materialistic and unrealistic, but maybe they did that in order to sell a lot of copies. If they started out by saying how much persistence and awareness it takes, I doubt many people would have finished the movie. |

'The Secret' is good in that it appeals to the mass market, and so can get a lot of people introduced to the concept of LoA; people that otherwise might not be open to it. It's doing a really good thing. I haven't read 'The Science of Getting Rich'... I quite like 'The Power of Now'. It is written in such a way as to trigger the experience it's speaking about. This in itself is unusual... Carlos Castenada talks about 'Intention' The most important thing about the law of intention, is, yes.... to visualize something so powerfully, and then let it go. Confident but non-attached. You need to almost 'forget' that you intended it in the first place. After the initial intention, set aside part of your mind/subconscious to 'work on that' for you, and then go do something else! Yes, this stuff works. Steve and Erin make important points about breathing, polarization and intention, and the importance of 'why' you want what you do... |

I agree with those who say this movie was dumbed down. I was also kind of put off by the excessive mention of how the LOA can be used to attain "financial wealth". While I have nothing against making lots of money I feel that to be a rather poor end goal for most people to focus on. There seems to be a very "service to self" mentality in the film, like you will make money so you can build YOUR dream house, or take YOUR dream vacation, or buy YOUR dream car. I wish more LOA guru's would get beyond what you can do for YOURSELF as an individual entity and focus more on what you can do for all of US as a whole. Steve Pavlina is a good example of this, and was something of a revelation to me. Honestly, for whatever good "The Secret" did in bringing LOA to people's attention, it was completely negated by reinforcing the materialistic message that "wealth is what matters" which you find so many other places in society. I actually think it makes things worse in that regard, by casting LOA in that sort of light. |
