Default Spiritual research as a career. Input?

Hey I just got through browsing that awesome thread on time and whether or not it is an illusion. I absolutely love reading spiritual books and debating spiritual topics. I'm a freshman in college right now, and I'm pretty smart, especially when I really enjoy a certain topic. I'm for sure going to get a degree in Computer Science as a backup, but thinking about a career and contributing to the world, what kind of scientific research could be really helpful in the whole spiritual conversation? Physics? Neuroscience? Those seem to be the closest. Neuroscience seems pretty cutting edge. There is a lot to be discovered about the brain.

What do you guys think?

Surprise. The three areas of computer science, physics AND neuroscience have all criss-crossed and come together to examine questions about the ultimate nature of reality.

Google "Roger Penrose", "consciousness", "artificial intelligence", and "neuroscience", and you may see what I mean.

If you are into computer science, Evolutionary Algorithms is also an interesting field.

Rudolph Steiner was a very prominent and successful spiritual researcher. He did it all with intuition - which seems to be somewhat different from the route you are mentioning.

Check out applied kinesiology / muscle testing -- with this tool you can find out the answer to any question you have. Many people are already using it to do actual spiritual research, including many spiritual teachers and authors.

And the thing is, it doesn't require any background at all. You can just go right into it and find out whatever you want. The only possible disadvantage is that it takes quite some practice to master and get accurate results -- one has to learn to phrase the right questions and become 100% nonattached to the outcome, interested only in finding the truth and not to prove a positionality.

Dr. Hawkins has researched and used this technique in depth in "Power vs. Force" which you've probably heard about or read already.

It's not an actual career or science per se, but it will probably prove very useful no matter which field or direction you choose to go into.

Actually I don't really like computer science that much. What I meant as a backup was a more reliable and safe career choice, because I've heard medical research is a tough field to go into.

Hi there,

If you are looking for a career that combine spiritual in your practice, you should get into psychology, psychiatry, or MD. You should study mind and matter, plus meditation wtih the career subject. When you understand mind and matter, you can a lot of people with mental problems. If you don't want to have a practice by yourself, and decide to work for big corporation, you can apply those knowledge to manage people, or you can use those knowledge in marketing. Marketing is applied psychology in action. Develop wisdom is the utmost important, so that you can be ahead of the competition. Wherever you live in the world, it is subject to survival of the fittest--the fittest mind will survive and thrive.

Best Regards,

Johnny
