| Taking a decision looks like a difficult thing today. In today’s generation, it is a major affliction that people cannot take decisions. The youth find it difficult to choose their careers. Their parents have to take this decision for them. The reason for this is that they are not aware of what is happening around them. They have never even thought about what kinds of fields or disciplines are available. Make up your mind and start taking at least small decisions. Some decisions will be wrong but you should not worry over them, rather you ought to learn the art of decision-making. For example, a housewife, before she begins to cook, asks ten different people, “What should I make? Should I make this… or should I make that… ? You tell me what should I make?” Now, she has to learn to take this decision. Here it is possible that someone may scold her for a wrong decision. But, by taking such decisions her self-confidence will increase. Otherwise life long, in some houses, the question, “What do I cook?” appears to be a huge problem. In this way, even if you start with a small decision, you will be able to take bigger decisions in your life. Do you know of any person who, till date, has not taken a wrong decision? You will say that it is not possible; mistakes do occur. Though it seems impossible, there are people who always take the right decisions. How could this have happened? Have they not taken any wrong decisions? They did take wrong decisions; but they also have another quality related to taking decisions. Such people, despite wrong decisions having occurred, think as to how to take advantage of that mistake. While to an onlooker it appears that this person has intentionally taken the decisions, the fact was that such a person, owing to his self-confidence, gives a right direction even to a mistake - he transforms even a mistake into an opportunity. In this way, you too should learn the art of making new decisions. Initially some mistakes will occur, but each day make new mistakes; do not repeat the old ones. You learn from new mistakes. Henceforth, do not fear, because history can pardon those who took wrong decisions, but it can never pardon those who never took any decisions. Some day, each one of us has to make a decision for the first time. Every work has to be done for the first time some time. No one comes from the mother’s womb having learnt everything. For the first time you ate food, for the first time you uttered words, for the first time you tried to walk. How many times did you fall as you tried to walk? How many times were you not able to utter words properly? So did you stop walking or talking? No. All this was possible with continuous effort. You may have fallen, not once but a thousand times. But you still continued walking. You repeatedly uttered wrong words but you kept talking and in the end speak you did. This was the result of taking decisions again and again. If you start taking decisions again and again now, surely, you will learn the art of taking decisions. The one fact you must remember is that you are bound to make some mistakes. However, if out of fear of making mistakes you stop taking decisions, then you will certainly never learn to take decisions. From today onwards whenever you confront the question: “I can’t understand what I should do”, realize that despite not taking a decision it is still a decision - the decision of not taking a decision. |

| I agree. The more you make decisions consciously the better you become with the art of decision making. But - there aren't people who can ALWAYS make the RIGHT decisions at the right TIME. Sometimes The people and the environment around you have influence over your decisions - and thats why you cannot make the right decisions every time - There are many other reasons. |
