Default Relax Button Meditation

If you have programmed yourself that whenever you join your thumb and index finger of a hand, you will go into a relaxed state or in a state of meditation, then you can adopt this "mudra"(position of hand) whenever you are under stress and get stress-free instantly. If your body gets habituated to your sitting in meditation with the thumb and index finger joined together, then this signal will have an instant effect on your body. If you want to go into a particular emotional state, then on joining your thumb and index finger together, you will automatically experience that state. For e.g. when you go to a temple (or mosque or church) and join your hands together, then what kind of feelings do you get? Check your feeling at this moment. Now join your hands together and bow your head a bit just like you do in a temple. Now check the feeling within you. Your feeling has changed. You will experience the same feeling that you do in a temple. Your mind has identified this gesture. Now whenever that gesture is repeated, the mind goes into the feeling of being in a temple. That means ‘folding your hands’ has become a signal for your body. Whenever you fold your hands, your body gets a signal that it should go into the feeling of being in a temple. In the same way, when you will join your thumb and index finger, your body will get the indication and you will become mentally prepared to go into that state that you have programmed for......

Thanks for the useful tip.

I have personally seen the power of what NLP'ers call "anchoring" - which is what you are describing here.

The thumb to index finger gesture is also something I have done, only I hadn't reinforced the "anchoring" as much as necessary, now that whenever I do it, the results are rather mild.

What I find works for me, though, is to simply close my eyes, roll my eyeballs upward and take a deep "belly" breath and let go. Works every time.
