| I took the survey but like many of these things it makes assumptions about people that are a bit annoying and make it hard to answer accurately. I would like to see one of these that allows for things like n/a answers to things that simply don't apply. In this case it makes assumptions about things like driving/owning a car and having 'joint finances'. Example: You ask questions about misuse of joint finances - if a couple does not have joint finances the obvious answer is no, can't misuse what you don't have but that could also be very misleading. |

| Completed. Although when I clicked the "submit" after getting my results, I have a blank white screen with the URL as the college then cgi-bin/perseus6.pl (didn't type the school URL so that the forums wouldn't eat it) |

| Do you really think that the people in this forum are somehow representive of the general population?

| Hi Brutha, You are right in suggesting the importance of obtaining a representative sample of people. If I had a small sample size and collected a majority of participants from one place (e.g., this website) I would be concerned. However, with the number that we will collect (3000) I think that bias from any one particular place is not really a great concern. In addition, I am lucky in that the analyses we will run have built in mechanisms for dealing with something such as this. I hope that this answers your questions and if you have any other questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me. Have a good day! Amy |

| Thanks Angela! I think a progress update would be a good idea because I know even when I take surveys of others in my line of work I'm always wondering "Is this the last page?" Amy |

| I took the test and found it enlightening, but missing something *VERY* important: I am in a long-term, long-distance relationship with intent to meet within a year, but not before the end of this coming spring semester when she hopefully can transfer schools, since she's from another country and thus can't just move over here. As complicated as it is, we love each other very much, and have been completely faithful to each other for 3 months as it is. I feel that such a relationship is valid enough that long-term long-distance relationships should be accounted for in your survey. Besides that, I was able to suspend disbelief and look to a realistic portrayal of life with my partner, and answered based on that. Given that pretense for answering, the survey was very clear, and was even helpful for me to understand what to expect in a relationship. I think the really specific questions are valuable and should be used more. I think the truly obscure questions are unnecessary, though. I saw questions about praetology (a Google search brought up nothing) and a musician I've never heard of and don't remember the name of even 4 minutes after taking the survey, so I don't see what their value is unless defined. Overall the survey was excellent and I hope to see an even further-improved version when I get the follow-up 3 months from now.

| Hello XeutonMojukai, Thank you so much for participating in my research! I also really appreciate your feedback about long-term long-distance relationships and their representation in the survey. I have been keeping a list of things to discuss with my advisor based on the feedback I am getting from everyone on this site and will definitely bring this up. I am also really glad that you found the survey enjoyable. Have a wonderful night and thank you again! Amy |
