Hello, Im gonna get straight to the point here: I currently work as a security guard for a place called Securitas. I get paid $6.60 per hour for 40 hours a week over 4 days. Theyve been okay with me so far but I keep running into the same damn problems with their clients and my co-workers that I have in other jobs that I have had. yesterday I was called by my boss saying I was no longer needed at that site and that they are gonna move me to another site. Naturally I asked why. I was told that the client (appalachian fuels) said they didn't want me there because I had been "asking questions that were not my business to ask and that I had been sitting in the office all day" A little about the "office" on site the security guards use: no heat no air conditioning NO PLUMBING NO RUNNING WATER WE HAFTA USE A PORTAPOTTY IF WE NEED TO USE THE RESTROOM) with the fact that it is getting up to the 100+ degrees temp wise every day now where I live!!! HELL WE ARE NOT SUPERHUMAN WE ARE JUST AS SUBECT TO DEHYDRATION AND HEAT STROKE AS THEY ARE!!! I have examined and re-examined myself under a fine toothed comb with a highly powered microscope figuratively speaking...in order to see just why ppl act this way towards me. Ive experimented with different ways of doing things to see if the clients and coworkers would get off my back, as I don't do anything wrong to them. Here is the experiment I have been doing, albiet it is taking alot from me only because I am in a sense forcing myself to give up my free will and independent thinking skills--even if it only means for a short while till I get my website up and running..... The experiment: I have forced myself to: --keep my head down --keep my mouth shut --do my job --all the while being nice and courteous so that I don't seem like a stuck up snob!! I figured it may be something I say that may be insulting--so I keep my mouth shut. I keep my head down so I dont attract any attention to myself so that nobody can make up lies and rumors about me. so far it hasn't worked--ppl in regards to where I work STILL find a problem with me to the point of trying to have me fired or wrote up for made up infractions such as: "asking questions that were not my business to ask." (mind you Ive been keeping my mouth shut so how the hell could THIS happen?!?!) I need advice on this because Ive reached my wits end here!!! (oh yeah the new place Im going to doesnt even have a guard shack--i hafta sit in my car for 12 hours--6p-6a!!) |

And when my boyfriend was working security, on the nights when I needed the car, he would have to stand or walk around all night. It's the nature of a security job. They don't owe you anything. It's not ideal, but if you truly don't like it, then maybe you should look for something else. Sorry if I sound harsh. I guess I am in a mood

I honestly don't think the people you work with have a personal agenda that includes making your life suck. As long as you make them responsible, you have no power. I would suggest taking a jug of water with you to work, stopping any and all complaining about your boss, your coworkers and your companies' clients and taking full responsibility for yourself. When someone says something like you were Quote:
Honestly, are there some things about the way you behave at work/your attitude about work that could benefit from a little tweaking?

I guess I can't really give you specifics, since I do not know you personally. I mean I am not on the job with you to observe what happens. But, in mostly all of your threads you are complaining about someone else and how they are making your life miserable. Maybe you could start by changing that and see where it takes you. I guess from my limited perspective, the one thing I would tweak is the attitude. I hope some other posters have some ideas for you too. |

Hey, Jess - I just got an e-mail about the new Wayne Dyer book the other day. You may find it helpful. I've noticed the same things as the earlier respondents, you do have a tendency to blame others for *everything* you don't like about your life. Not that that is completely who you are, but I have seen it's a tendency you have. Can you get into a calm place, and review what you said/asked on your job? Even though you felt you were keeping your mouth shut, others may have a different perspective of what that means. It may feel like a difficult place now, but I see you wanting to use this to further your growth & self-knowledge. Yay, you! You'll only be supported in that endeavour. Don't forget to breathe! Gassho ~ |
