Default Bastille Day and Vive la France...

Quote:
Bastille Day is the French national holiday, celebrated on 14 July each year. In France, it is called "Fête Nationale" ("National Holiday"), in official parlance, or more commonly "quatorze juillet" ("14th of July").

It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789; the storming of the Bastille was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern French "nation", and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution.
So to all our friends from France... may you have a wonderful day... and "Vive la France."

In Midtown East in Manhattan they have a street party and everyone sells yummy french desserts!
Whoops. Don't want to reduce the holiday to a food fest, but the food is quite nice...

in France every holiday is a pretext for a food fest. nobody cares about silly fête de la fédération. what matters is : you don't work, and you eat fine.

My Bastille Day was great...it's also my birthday and I was basking in the sun at the coast!

Only thing that would have made it better was the food you are all talking about...yum!
