Simply because you dress professionally and "look the part" doesn't necessarily make you a professional... it makes you an actor.

There are many ways to be unprofessional. i happen to have a boss who can't meet deadlines, yells so everyone can hear him, has tantrums, and has no problem throwing things at his employees...like plates. Even if he was dressed to the nines, that behavior is SERIOUSLY unprofessional and uncalled for.

It's social conditioning and tradition for hundreds of years. You can't change it, and why would you? Use it to your advantage my friend. I understand where you're coming from, but if you know how the system works, use it!

The world is moving so fast and we are all so busy, we need to size people up quick, and that's mostly via appearances and first impressions. It's a shame we can't meet everyone and get to know how good they really are, but we can't, so we have to make assumptions. Usually these are mostly correct, but other times they're wrong. And when that's the case, it's usually due to the person trying to beat "the system". (this also ties up incredible well with women and dating too, quite amazing now that I look at it)
