Technically that's you thinking in your head that you know what they are like and that they would annoy you if you knew them, but you don't really know until you've known them. It's all guessing up to that point.

Maybe you'd be right...maybe not?

I have thought the same way before by the way.

I realize that I'm merely assuming they'd be annoying and have no way of knowing that until I get to know them. But annoying people don't wear a sign that says "I'm annoying" so it's a risk to get to know anyone, the risk of being offended and unable to cut them off. Even if you are somehow able to cut them off, it's too late, you were already annoyed. Plus now you have the memory of being annoyed that could mess with your mood or your mental state, and you could replay the offense in your head repeatedly. So I figure, why risk it?

I agree - why risk it? Except that rather than dealing with it by avoiding annoying people, I transform the annoyance into something that supports me (by getting the learnings from it), and by choosing not to associate back into annoyance (replaying the annoyance script repeatedly), but instead choosing conscious awareness of what's here now, and focusing on what I want.

In other words, using the perspective that if someone is annoying me, it's not them, it's me. That's a perspective that makes available personal power, as opposed to the perspective that I'm constantly at risk and at the effect of all those annoying people out there, which would leave me feeling like a powerless victim.

Spot on as usual. Everyone owns their annoyance (sadness, rage, etc.) To consciously own it and look for the lesson it brings is to live authentically.

O.P.
Quite often I have felt like you do.
Then I meet a stranger on a walk, who will bend down and stroke my dog. She will wag her tail at him.
Then I receive a gift for Christmas from an old lady who hardly knows me -only knows of me, from someone else.
Then someone else I hardly know knocks on my door to bring me a Christmas card.
Then I log into a site which helps people find lost dogs, and see all the genuine support offered to the person who has lost their dog (maybe their own fault but they receive kindness anyway, and help)

So I wonder if sometimes the hard, cold feelings about what the rest of the "World" does , and the selfishness and thoughtlessness we also often see -isn't a form of unbalanced cynicism which originates from ourselves, as a projection -maybe of a form of tiredness about the world? You see, this is a "middle world" neither Heaven nor Hell, but a place in which all possibilities can be manifested. So we are going to see all kinds of different things here.

I think it might depend on what energies are inside oneself as to what the world looks like.....and very often -how the world interacts with us.
Find the things you like best INSIDE yourself, and just live those things..no matter who does what wherever. I think that's the best plan.

Strangers are nice but wait til you get to know them. That's when trouble starts. I find because I have such different views about various things and live such an alternative lifestyle, it invites attack. I hate conflict because I'm such a gentle spirit so I tend to avoid it. I'm working on pretending it no longer exists and getting thoughts of it out of my head completely, so I can achieve lasting peace.

I would love to raise kids, have a familly , but there is too much crap around us, it saddens me. Just watch the news, it is miserable. Zombies freak, robots, nothing else. I am so disappointed by these mindless human behaviors. I hate people with no brain, who have zero common sense, no class, people who smoke their cigarettes in your face to destroy your health. People who drive drunk(I mean seriously how can you do this!?). Fortunately, I admit that there is nice/intelligent/kind people. But the majority sucks! I rarely watch the news, it's poison. You really can live without it and you won't miss it, same with television in general. But there are some pretty darn amazing people out there, you have to look past the things you don't like and find some great things that resonate with you. It's important to plant some flowers and thin out the weeds of humanity, that's why good people should have kids, and raise them with love. Not only to improve the world, but to give you something awe-inspiring to focus on.

If the people in your life make you feel this horrible about the human race, it's time to find new people.

Hope you feel better soon...<3
