Default Can divorce make men socially inept

2 movies that I saw were Yes Man and Due Date. There's one character in each movie that apparently was divorced.

Both characters acted very inappropriate during social interactions. For example, in Yes Man, when Jim Carrey was invited by his friend to his engagement party. He said something like "I'll figure it out".

Also is saying "good for him/her", when the person in question is doing good in life, considered approriate? What would you say if your friend mentions to you that another friend is getting breaks.

Stop watching mainstream TV if you allow it to install such program inside your head.
It's called fiction for a reason.

Well I'm not sure what the movies really have to do with it, but on a more serious note, I think being divorced has that potential, simply because the men wouldn't have as much practice in the social world MOST of the time, when they've been married for many years.

Also it depends on the friend/situation... you could say good for you if he sounded excited lol, but in general it's a serious thing, so if your friend wants to have a long convo about it, then asking questions is always a good place to start, otherwise being like that sucks dude, is more likely to be appropriate. Idk it all depends on the friend too...

I don't know cuz both the characters i was talking about acted in very retarded(i hate to use this word) ways.

Could it be because they were depressed after divorce and that messed them up?

yeah it could be that. People aren't as good at socializing when they aren't happy of course.

They acted the way they acted because the guy who wrote the script wanted them to act that way.
It fitted into the plot line.
