Default My Wife Might be Pregnant

I just want to ask for everyone's prayers and positive energy.

As most people know, I just got married about a month and a half ago. Now it's starting to look like she might be pregnant. She's starting to show some of the signs of it. We've not done a pregnancy test yet—thinking we might want to wait a few more days.

It's a bit unexpected, but we're getting excited about it. Just hope we're not getting ahead of ourselves and it ends up to be a false alarm. But it really doesn't feel like it.

The thing is that doctors have told me that I really shouldn't be able to have children. I had a pituitary tumor when I was four years old, which is the reason I went blind, so there is a certain hormone that I'm supposed to have to take to be able to have children. So that's why there's a lot of uncertainty surrounding this right now. Perhaps there are traces of it that they just don't know, or who knows.

But I'd appreciate all support, prayers, energy, and just your thoughts to be with us. I'll update this thread as we know more.

What a surprise for you and your wife! I encourage you to take a home pregnancy test to confirm your suspicions. It is important for your wife to take pre natal vitimins and get the proper care. Usually if she is showing signs, it will be able to be detected with a test.
Best wishes with this. People will tell you a baby changes everything. It has been the best experience for my husband and I.

All the best! Yeah, wait a couple of days and try one of those DIY pregnancy test kits. They are not 100% accurate, but close enough.

And if baby is on the way, mummy should start with her folic acid supplements asap. Speak to doctor ....

The second part of your post made me wonder...

It seems like you are having trouble believing this is the reality, because of what the doctors have told you.

Doctors can be wrong. Doctors ARE wrong a whole lot of times, if you look at how many people have been told they only have a few weeks to live, and end up living for 20 years or more.

Are you doubting the child is yours, or just wierded out based on what you previously thought was possible? I don't mean to pry or put unpleasant thoughts in your head, but I'm sensing some doubt in you. That might be my own projection though, so please feel free to tell me I'm wrong there.

I think getting a pregnancy test kit, as per ALG's recommendation might be a good idea, just to be sure.

No i'm not doubting it's mine. That thought would never cross my mine.

But yes, I'm having trouble believing that it could be possible. I accept it and pray it is so, but like I said the doctor seemed pretty certain.

You are right that doctors are wrong a lot, so we are just waiting and watching.

That's understandable.

Once you find out for sure, you can settle into the reality and feel ok about it.

All the best for you and your wife.

The only problem is between your ears. You cannot divine the future, so you are imagining it. Tommorow never comes. It is always today. Eckhart Tolle teaches you to be in the present, not in in the imaginary future. That is where your problem lies.

Was Tolle the first person to ever teach this? I have no idea what book this is and who is saying this? Maybe you do!

New International Version (©1984) Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matthew 6:27 "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? "

Yes, I do. I mean, financially I don't know if we're ready, but I do want it.

I prayed for you that your wife is pregnant.

If she's not, no biggie. You can always try again. And why not take the hormones?

It does happen--my mother was in a bad car crash in college and the doctors told her she'd never be able to have children. But here I am and I have a younger brother.

Best wishes to you two, pregnant or not.

It does seem that most everyone knows someone that had kids after being told by a doctor that they'd never be able to, which is worth remembering if/when having sex with someone you wouldn't want to get pregnant.

As ALG said, have her start folic acid supplements if she hasn't already, as they make the biggest difference at the very beginning of pregnancy.

Congrats!!!!! We all can't wait to hear the results of your test!

Also, on the being "ready" for a baby thought-whether it be financially, emotionally, etc., no one is ever ready! LOL! It happens and then you're like, "what the heck was I waiting for!?"

Also, if you don't want to worry with the home pregnancy tests, I know my clinic offers blood tests for $25 that show up within 2 weeks of fertilization (or something like that). I know the tests show positive much faster than the home pregnancy tests. You can also get set up for first sonogram, visit, etc., that way. Most docs want a lady in by 12 weeks. I believe midwives are about the same, and they are lovely to have, especially in-home.

Hang in there! And try not to bite all your fingernails off while you're waiting to find out.
