Friendship ends with no reason

Well, this is not about me, it is about my bestfriend who i just made as bestfriend. i really want to sort her problem out.
So, uhm we are classmates, and she just moved in to my school.
So her former school was much bigger than my school, which means that there are more people there. And i also have a friend who moved out and move in her former school.
and this friend of mine introduced me to a guy called X. And i found that i have no interests in him.
and the introduction was through phone, and at first i have no idea wth he got my phone no. and i asked my bestfriend and this friend of mine. and it turns out that my bf just smiled and suddenly she shared me a story between her and this X guy.
Last year, when they are in the same school, they were quite close after messages and messages, but then all of a sudden, after this girl moved into my school, the guy seemed to walk away from her, stopped texting or calling or meeting. and when meeting at malls.. they are like strangers. not saying HI at all.

This X guy is a guy who's really wanting to have a girlfriend, after reading all his statuses in social networking websites.
The problem is...
My bestfriend, based on my own thoughts, wants to correct this rapport again. And since I am between them. coz well i am chatting with both of them, and I really want to tell X to at least. say hi!?
Girls, well, we always want guys to say Hi first, i know its unfair. but well we all have different personalities and thoughts.

And I think X is an okay person to compromise with, but my bestfriend always stop me to ASK the X to say HI again. I know inside her heart, she wants to talk again and have her good moments back.
well i hope someday they would.
