Default Guide to Flirting

I just found a fascinating article over at this site on the subject of flirting. Lot's of very high quality content; well worth a read.

Quote:
Research has also shown that men have a tendency to mistake friendly behaviour for sexual flirting. This is not because they are stupid or deluded, but because they tend to see the world in more sexual terms than women.
Sounds about right to me

Definetely some tips there, but imo most of it is bullshit.

If someone really wants to flirt/date, look up on David DeAngelo. He's one of the best. Really. Trust me (I'd rather you not, cause I'd take advantage of that :P ).

I agree that's it's very pseudo-scientific. But then human relationships will always be incredibly pseudo-scientific, because science is all about systems of causality and it's incredibly difficult to predict the behaviour of other human beings.

I think there is no definitive guide to flirting; the best way to get better at it is to just work on your courage and self-control and then practise, practise, practise. Still a lot of the things in this article seemed to match with my own personal experience so it gave it a bit of credibility in my eyes.

BTW, I am in no way a PUA of any sorts. I mean, I haven't been to a party in two months and I haven't had a girlfriend in just over eight. Still I found it interesting, in a kind of "ooo" way.

Personally, I've never gotten flirting. I see a guy who looks interesting, I approach him and start up a conversation. Granted, most guys I talk to are either at a sports restaurant/bar or at the beach which are my two biggest hobbies. Then again, I'm a tomboy, all my friends were male when I was growing up, so acting feminine and flirty is beyond me!

Default pffft.

Isn't flirting natural? This article takes something fun and undefinable, and makes it all cold and objective.

@smellyorc, My guru could kick your guru's ass.

^ Hahahaha.

Many things which are "natural" aren't for some people.

Still, very interesting to read about it from a 'sociological' point of view. Thanks for the link!

...well, these people they point advise you of checking out Like David DeAngelo, they certainly have their merits. And not all people know how to flirt. Nobody taught me how to do it. My mom didn't, my dad didn't, and they don't teach it at school. Good thing there's the 'community.

Great link Shaden. I thought the article was very interesting. A little flirting is fun and brightens up the day. It's nice to be liked.
