Default Discovering and Marketing Yourself

Hi everyone!

I recently wrote an entry on my own blog about self-discovery and marketing yourself after I found an incredibly effective method in doing so.

Scott H Young » Discover Yourself in Twenty Minutes

Now I thought I would bring the idea to these forums.

How do you currently see yourself? Do you feel you have a high degree of understanding of your own identity? What have you done in your life to improve your self-image?

Seeing as some people mentioned PUA's in this forum I thought I'd bring up a video I saw where Mystery used a story to describe the profession of computer programming. Although normally boring, nerdy and asexual, the way he likened the job was to an almost mystical understanding of patterns in nature and even human consciousness. Needless to say he made it sound far more attractive, sexy even.

Do you have your own way of describing who you are to yourself or others that you find is particularly effective?

P.S. As a quick aside I wanted to point out that this is probably the most mature, enlightened and intelligent forums I've ever visited. There are a lot of incredibly smart people here, so I'm looking forward to your responses.

Edit: Just in case it wasn't clear. The reason I'm posting this in the social board is because I'm putting emphasis on how you use your self-image when marketing yourself to others.

Identity is performance. Whenever you are trying to describe your identity, you are actively creating it. This doesn't much help when trying to come with an "about me" page on a website, but at least I got rid of the illusion that what put there always has to be the "only real me".

True, the kind of person who would 'discover themselves' would say something about their own identity. But I think you can be a little more specific than generalizations in determining your identity.

I need to spend some time pondering this further; atm I try to keep it simple. I'll mention what I do (I'm a medical student in the army) who loves to train and hang out. Keeping it vague can be a good way to see if people are interested in learning more about you.
