Default Guys, Just out of curiosity

How much does long or short hair on a woman determine your level of attraction to her? (the poll is really only meant for the men).

I'd also like to hear how many of you think it's a deal breaker?

To the women: How much do you feel your husband's/guy's opinion determines how short/long you actually wear your hair?

My husband really wants me to cut my hair short... I refuse to do this.

He wants it because it would be something different, and he likes that.

I am just happy that my hair is sort-of long for the first time in a few years (longer than just till my shoulders).

Sooner or later I will do what he wants, to surprise him. But for now I am just going to enjoy my hair the way it is.

It depends on the age and the face of the woman, but I'll say that 95% of the time I prefer long hair on women under 50.

I'm different than most guys I've talked to. For me, I absolutely love short hair on a woman. There are certain cuts of short hair that I find highly attractive and sexy. I've seen women who had long hair cut their hair short, and I found them sexier with their hair shorter. I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker though, just what I'm naturally attracted to.

You have to be a certain type of woman to pull short hair off. (the best example I can think of off the top of my head is Jamie Lee Curtis)

For the other 99.99% of you, don't let it get any shorter than shoulder length.

Pic for reference on the absolute shortest you should let your hair get:

That's just my opinion, though, of course.

I've known women who are absolutely gorgeous with longer hair and then they cut it off and it's like I immediately lost my attraction for them.

Default depends on the face/body type

if she has prominent facial features (larger than average nose) short hair is not an attractive choice. Like-wise if her body type is "above average". I am attracted to women who are comfortable with themself. I realize having the hair style they like for themself is an important part of that.

Let's see if this poll works this time. The mod will kindly move it for me, thanks Seeker.

It really depends on the reason you're cutting it real short. If you're doing it because you stopped caring what people think then it's obviously not going to work. If you're doing it because you're looking for change and you plan on styling, maintaining, and putting the effort to make it work, then you will have the potential to look even hotter than before.

What I mean by "putting the effort to make it work", is to realize that now that the hair is gone, there's more emphasis on everything else. Get in great shape if you aren't already and wear clothes that will flatter your body type. A lot more emphasis will be put on your face so it will be a good idea to shape the eyebrows right and learn some modern makeup techniques that will accentuate your features.

It will take more effort than when you had long hair, but if you do these things and carry yourself with confidence (ie. stand tall and tell yourself you're hot) then you will be able to pull it off and in some cases, look even better than before.

Fixed it. I added the short hair option as the second option, let me know if you prefer something different. I apparently can't add a poll to a post that doesn't have one, but I can edit a poll once it's up there!

I voted that it depends on her other features. What I mean by that is some women look better with long hair, some with short. I'd prefer a woman wear a complimentary hairstyle.

Default Women with Short Hair

Short hair places emphasis on the face, therefore for many women, more hair is safer. Not all ladies are Shirley Bassey, Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Munro.

I agree with this, and it's the option I voted for. I've seen plenty of beautiful women with either short or long hair, no one option looks good on all women; and I don't really prefer one over the other.

Hair is just hair. It's a small part of the package.

I find that a very limited and limiting view. Many, many women look just as good - or better - with shorter hair.

To suggest 99.99 percent of women will be unattractive with short hair is just ridiculous. It may not be your preference, but fortunately we're not all trying to appeal to you.

And before you think this is personal defensiveness, I have long hair. I just dislike it when men attempt to prescribe 'You women should all do *this*'.

A lot of men feel the same way I do.

Doesn't mean anything. It's just *our* preferences. Attraction isn't really a choice, after all.

I agree with James81 apart from the 99.9% bit..

I just wouldn't put a statistic on the amount of women who should keep their hair what length.. everybody's unique..

But I generally think that longer hair is more attractive..

It probably means you love focusing on the woman's face more. So you don't need her to hide it behind long hair.

It depends on the woman. I even liked Persis Khambatta in Star Trek with no hair. Some of them look good both with long and short hair. It's difficult to generalize.

I just saw a picture of Kanye West's girlfriend and I must say that I'm really digging the shaved head on her:

Now of course, she has a gorgeous face and a great body so she can get away with it. But I think she actually looks better without hair than with it. It also helps that she carries herself with a ton of confidence.

Hehe, I do love focusing on a woman's face .

However, overall, I think underneath it all, the kind of hair a girl has to me showcases her personality. I am more attracted to the kind of girl whose personality prefers short hair. I want a girl who has short hair not because she feels it makes her look better (ie, she has hair based upon other people's judgement), but rather, she has short hair because she feels it's a more true expression of her inner self, and that she resonates with short hair much more then she resonates with long hair.

One example is Kes in Star Trek Voyager. I really digged her when she had short hair, found her insanely attractive. Then she grew long hair, and while the hair is beautiful, and it probably made her more attractive to a bunch of guys, to me, she instead became an ordinary looking girl with no special attraction going for her.

And they to themselves, I imagine... I couldn't agree more. Unless the woman has thick, straight hair she is going to go through the "Samson Complex" by cutting her hair short.

Cut your hair and lose all your strength.

I have mentioned in this forum before that I cut my hair short last summer and went through a depression over it. It was then I had to admit..."I am my hair."

It's long again and I'm loving it! My power is back! Men look again!

Note to Daffy... I am over 50 and love having long hair. (Just past my shoulders.) I don't understand why older women think they have to cut their hair short. Let's not forget the perm! Most women at any age look better with long hair. Short curly hair is the worst.

I prefer long hair but it really depends on a woman's features. I've seen short hair styles on certain girls that does look super hot. I'm turned off by extra short or butch feminine styles and absolutely do not like the punked-out, shaved or stubble-short look. And no mullets or dreadlocks for the long hair, please! These preferences of course for the woman of my dreams. I will always respect a person as a person, no matter how they dress or mess with their hair.

OMG I meant to mention, Jamie Lee Curtis had a tv program years ago. I don't remember the name of it, but she had medium length layered hair.

She looked great with more hair on her head! She's cute now, but she does look better with longer hair. Easy to picture isn't it.

I prefer to have short 'funky' hair - it's just easier to take care of and I am a no fuss girl who simply does not take time to blow dry/style etc her hair, so when my hair is long it just goes in a pony tail...

However I am growing my hair and have changed hair color based on what my boy prefers, and I am perfectly happy with it. It's only hair.

Yeah I saw you post that and was kind of surprised by it. I definitely know many very strong powerful women with short hair. You obviously do have an emotional attachment to your hair. Childhood trauma?

j/k

No childhood trauma, but yes, your're right about my attachment to my hair. I think it's because my hair is fine and curly and looks like s**t when it's short. When it's long, it suddenly looks good, feels good, has great body, there's weight to it, the works!

Short hair can look good on some women. I think Demi Moore is another good example. She was very hot in Ghost.

When my hair is short I turn into a pin head, or look like a q tip!
