  |  Five genders in Indonesia
This community (subculture, maybe?) in Indonesia recognizes FIVE genders: (!) Male Female Bisu (a kind of male-female cross-gender, I think) Chalalai (female body, living as a male) Chalabai (male body, living as a female) I found this really interesting. The community, including family members, accept and recognize any of the genders as valid. This really interesting video here. |

And to think we consider ourselves 'civilized' and call some of these cultures "uncivilized". I think Bill Maher is not wrong when he says a lot of modern day problems can be blamed on religion (and the worst culprits are Christianity and Islam). They are the leading darkworking religions on this planet. Most of the good these religions do pales in comparison to the damage they have caused humanity. |
