About a week ago I created a profile on OkCupid.com: Free Online Dating, Online Dating, Dating, Free Dating Services, Dating Services - a week later I have four dates set up. My first one is today - I'm relatively nervous since I haven't been on a date in years. Oh well, experience and all that!

Check out these free Internet dating sites - plentyoffish.com and okcupid.com. Hopefully there are plenty of women in your area.

I'm also trying okcupid at the moment. Currently, it isn't working too well for me. =/ Eh. Some have better luck than others, I guess.

Keep trying - don't worry if you don't find somebody suitable to start with. It's bound to take some time - and if nothing else, it can be a great way to make new friends as well!

Just had the girl I mentioned earlier (who I met online) over for dinner tonight and she's inviting me over to her place at some point for dinner as well soon. We had a great honest talk tonight and if nothing else, I feel I've gained a very sweet, positive girl as my friend.

I got a text msg from her before tonight saying that she enjoyed spending time with me, but didn't think she could offer more than that. I thought I had been "friendzoned" for being too much of a nice guy as usual, but she told me tonight she doesn't feel entirely comfortable with the unofficial 'dating rules' that state that a third date (the dinner tonight is the third time we got together) pretty much means you're supposed to be an item. Good to hear I'm not the only one having a hard time with that - now I'm just going to let things develop as they may and not try to control everything like the 'old me' would

Nothing wrong with being friends first. A friend of mine told me his partner was his best friend for years and then as time went on the mutuallity grew into something else
