A couple of months ago my friend asked me to be her birthing partner for when her baby would be born. I was delighted to accept and we have been preparing for that day together. Well folks, that day is here. She went into labour this morning. I'm so nervous and excited I can't tell you. It's such an honour to be present at someone's birth. Right now she's trying to get some sleep between contractions as they are quite far apart at the moment. I'm going over in a couple of hours to support her. Oh blimey, this is really real! I just hope I'm up to the job. Please send happy vibes. will let you know how I get on. |

How's it going Star?? I've never witnessed some one else's birth before, it must be an amazing experience!!! When I had my third child, there was a Resident assisting me and mine was his first birth. He sat down and cried when my son was born. I was so touched by this man. I bet he has made a great doctor. Good luck and sending lots of love and serenity! |

Wow, what a magical job! You are so loving and so powerful. Mother and baby are blessed to have you as part of this process, just as you are. (I hate that word "blessed", but it's the only thing I could think of that describes it! |

She had a boy at 8.20 this evening. All I can say is wow, wow, wow. She had a great labour. The hypnosis that we had been working on was fantastic at helping her breath through the contractions. It was gentle for a long time then full on for a few hours (but there wasn't any screaming RT!) - just breathing, some vocalisation and relaxation. (I'm not saying it was pain-free by a long shot - but she was in control and relaxed). She went to the hospital to be told that everything was going well and she had dilated quite far, but unfortunately the baby was breech so she had to have an emergency c-section. I wasn't allowed into the theatre with her at that point as they only let one person in and her H was there for her at that point. However, I'm so pleased that I could be with her for the time that I was. It was an honour just to hold her hand and breath with her through it all. If anyone is thinking about having a baby then look into HypnoBirthing as it really amazing at helping the mother through labour. Mother, father and baby are doing really well.
