Hi,

I've had pretty much experience with posting in forums and chat rooms but I feel there's still a pretty big rift between forum social skills and real life social skills. I think a streaming audio chat room would be a great stepping stone for myself. Has anyone done this?

I don't know if it's been done, but it sounds like a pretty cool idea.
Isn't there something similar for language training? Like you speak with a french person online, so that you learn french and the other person your language. I think i read about that somewhere.

Has anyone used an audio chatroom that they can suggest?

I just don't want to go through the trouble of registering to find out I have to pay, or that no one uses the program, etc.

You could use TeamSpeak which is free and popular: TeamSpeak - Welcome to TeamSpeak
Not sure how well it work work for what you're trying to do, since it's intended for games, but I'm pretty sure it has public non-game-related rooms.

(If you don't like that program, Wikipedia has a list of VoIP software: Comparison of VoIP software - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )
