Smile Is it an unwise thing.....

to express your feelings to someone you really like?

I told a guy I've been smitten with for 15 months how i really felt about him in an email(didn't go over the top, it was light hearted and humourous). The reason why i decided to finally tell him this (we've had an attraction/connection from when we first met at work Nov 2007) is because i was moving offices and knew i wouldnt see him again. We've never got it together (he's still recovering from a broken heart as the girl messed around with his head) but have always had that connection with one another - genuine attraction and chemistry. When i told him how i felt about him (and the last 15 months), he said he was really flattered and he 'dreams about someone saying & feeling those things' about him. He asked for my number - which i did, and we both agreed that even now is not the right time for anything serious, we'd keep in touch and maybe one day might be the right time (I came out of a 6yr r'ship 12 months ago). Good enough, after i emailed him my number and i had left the building/office for the last time - he text me thanking me for being so open and honest in how i felt about him and that i shouldnt be embarrassed. It's like we're both lost souls and feel connected with one another....but appears to be the wrong time for both of us...

When it was my last day in work and i emailed him what i did, we went for a chat outside the office and on the way back up to our floor - he gave me a hug in the lift and it was really heartfelt - it truly blew me away.

I'm just wondering whether it's good for women to express their feelings to other men? I did what i did because i didnt want to look back at my life and regret not saying something to him before i left ....

I think you did the right thing! I had a similar experience but I held myself back out of fear and now the guy is gone. I have alot of regrets about that. ( see my "synchronicity" thread under paranormal ) I actually would like to contact this guy to "keep in touch" to see if things would ever work out. He's in a relationship right now so I don't know if it's the best thing to do. And again I'm still too afraid to do anything - so I do nothing.

Hi raw,

Yeh, i'm glad i did too - i would have felt empty if i didn't do what i did - couldnt bare the thought of not ever speaking/seeing him again.

I think we are being true to ourselves when we are being true to others and I know this guy is hugely flattered and respectful of what i said. I think life is about taking those risks sometimes and i think you should too because there's nothing worse than regretting the things you never did in life... Irrespective if he's in a r'ship or not, i'd find a way to get in touch - maybe he's dreaming about still finding the 'one' deep down...

btw - I'm 28, female from the UK )

I too think its right. I once read on a tea box "At the end of the day we regret not what we said but what we havent said"
That resonates with me. There were times in the past where I didnt say, and until today I regret it.

To say or not say something ?

hmmm, The goal is that you will have no regrets, what ever your decision maybe.

As long as you don't have regrets, then you chose to do the right thing. ^^
