finding some female friends

This has sort of always been an issue with me. I've never had very good experiences with female friends. Most of them in my past have ended up hurting me and now I find myself with pretty much zero close female friends. Which sucks.

Now that I'm out of school and self-employed, I need to come up with new ways to meet females who have similar interests as me. I think most females my age (25) are probably in comfortable relationships with other females and might not want to expand into more? I'm not sure really but sometimes I think that.

Another question is actually finding females which I have any type of connection with. I just find it hard to find females with similar interests and maybe I jsut have a hard time trusting a lot of them (due to my past). I'm also unsure of how to advance relationships with females without seeming needy or desperat for something. It's not exactly like talking to guys.

How do you go about asking females out to do things with you... and actually have them WANT to do things with you?
