Ive actually been around both cities and must say i prefer Sheffield. Okay im a speedway fan and theres a track in sheffield but its also a good night out. Plenty of good real ale pubs Best Wishes Big C.

Both of them are evil. At the risk of offending everyone from the UK, we only have two good cities, London and Edinburgh, and only one beautiful one, Edinburgh. The rest are pretty horrible, generally dirty and lacking in facilities, especially compared to say a Melbourne, Sydney, Barcelona, San Francisco, Vancouver etc. I should know I'm from Liverpool, and you wouldn't gas badgers there! City of Culture? Your'e having a laugh! |

I'm at Leeds Uni and have visited Sheffield so can comment. Leeds, great city, very warm and sociable. Great nightlife... Sheffield, great student union, more compact student area... It's a toss up but I'm glad I went to Leeds and would certainly not have it any other way. Both are great though, you can't go wrong with either imo. |

Thanks so much everyone! I've heard Leeds is a 'good party city' but just from my research I do get better vibes from Sheffield. Any other cities besides Edinburgh in the UK (or the world for that matter) that you think would be a good, friendly place to live/study for a year? I'm from Canada btw, and I've been to vancouver/ottawa/toronto/victoria and probably will make comparisons to those cities. Last edited by dice; 01-15-2009 at 12:17 AM. |
