Default Anyone ever get divorced?

Anyone ever get divorced? I'm not sure if this is the place to be asking, but I'm writing a short story which has a scene in a courthouse during the main characters divorce. What type of questions would the judge ask? What topics would be covered? How deeply would he go into the reasons?

Thanks,
Andrew

I've been divorced. No courthouse involved. Filed forms. Divorce decree came by US mail. I think the courts generally get involved only when the details cannot be handled amicably (e.g. custody disputes).

In my divorce I was sworn as a witness and took the witness stand. My lawyer asked me a series of questions which included and gave me a series of directions:

State your name please.
State your address.
Were you married to (name) on (date)?
Is the marriage irretrievably broken?
When did you last live with you wife?
When did you last see your wife?
Do you wish to proceed with this divorce?
Do you solemnly swear under penalty of perjury that the evidence you have given here today is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

At this point in the proceeding the Judge banged his gavel and said so ordered in the case # (name) vs (name).

This was in Abilene Texas. The divorce was uncontested and without children. My then spouse was not present and had not responded to the petition for divorce.

I hope you find this information useful.
