Hi, Starting sometime in December, I've got 1 month off from school. So that means, 1 month with no work, no school work, no obligations. I could take some road trips, though I have to be careful about my expenses. I don't care about Christmas, so I don't intend to do anything Christmas-related. I thought, what if I made this month into a great Personal Development Month? I'd love to go on adventures, either outer or inner, that touches the heart. My current top personal development focus right now is the initial development of relationships of all kind, and I'm very interested in increasing my alignment with the principles of Oneness and Courage, as well as Love and Power. So, basically instead of spending a lazy month, I'd love to do something exciting, something invigorating, and something that would lead to a lot of growth So, I'd love suggestions in regard to what I could to to make the most of this one month - something I could focus on, some kind of goals, some kind of trips I could take, some programs, etc.? |

My suggestion would be to immerse yourself in some kind of volunteer effort that would involve you working with people. I'm not sure what kind of thing would appeal to you, but for me, I might volunteer to work in a shelter caring for the small children during the day while the parents take advantage of ESL classes or job training of some sort. My local shelter has needs for people to teach workshops, work in their kitchen and care for the children. I would see that as great opportunity to work on establishing relationships with people of all ages and abilities, not only the clients but the staff and other volunteers. I'm sure that if you check the United Way in your area, there is a large list of organizations that would be thrilled to have your expertise for a month! Good luck and have fun! |

Hey, seeker5, I notice that Byron Katie is doing a New Year's Cleanse for a 5 days in L.A., and it's very expensive, but it looks like she is doing scholarships for worthy individuals. If anyone is a worthy individual, you are! They apparently do a juice fast kind of thing and probably lots of examining of beliefs and other partner exercises. It sounds great. Take a look on her website under "Events." I'd be glad to assist you in drafting a letter about how you should be scholarshipped. |

| Hmmm, I didn't see any scholarship info, I thought maybe you had the info somewhere else. I did a google search for scholarship on her site, and found some scholarship application for a different event which is 9 days instead of this event.

I was thinking last night that to avoid subcomming to laziness during my 1 month, I should set some goal that would excited me and that may be possible (but would be a stretch) to accomplish in just one month. I know I love feeling driven, and having an exciting goal helps me feel driven and focused. What do you think?

1. excite me - it has to be something you want and define based on YOUR values 2. align with my best interests in the long term, i.e. a good asset to invest in that will provide good long term returns and that will have positive effects in your other life areas too (relationships, health, life purpose, money etc) 3. improve my current situation NOW that the goal usually won't work. I'm still young though so I'm still experimenting with the planning and goal setting process. So take the above with a grain of salt. It makes sense to me when I talk about it though. Another way to work out what you might want to do is ask your higher self Most of the goals excite me, except maybe the getting up early part. Lucid dreaming probably takes precedence. Understanding and applying what's in the above books definitely excite and inspire me. It might seem I have a long list, but they definitely do inspire me.
