Oh my God,
it's only a month and a half left before New Year's. I love NY eve, it's my favourite holiday of all, but for the past four years it was nothing but a disaster. I'm dreading my favourite thing of all. I don't have many friends and those few live far away or out of country somewhere else. I'm terrified. I celebrated past few years alone. I'm sick of it. I like my company and like doing things on my own, but I spend most of my time on my own anyway. I want this year to be different, I want things to be different. I was recently fired from my job and maybe it's starting to take its toll on me. I don't know what to do! Help!

How about doing Byron Katie's New Year Cleanse? Come to Los Angeles and hang out for a few days with a bunch of people who are interested in personal development, and are interested in examining the truth of their own beliefs.

Or you could do what I did the year my mom died -- go to Club Med over Christmas and New Year's. It was wonderful.

Hi Angie,
thank you - I end up doing things on my own all the time. I travel on my own, go to plays and performances on my own. It's alright, but not for NY's. I don't have much money right now either and that's even more depressing. What's that LA thingy?

Or look on craigslist, yahoo groups, or google groups in your city to find a group that's interested in what you're interested in -- running? the Law of Attraction? vegetarianism? politics? -- whatever, you have two good months to get in with a group of people who probably want to hang out together during the holidays.

Events - The Work of Byron Katie -- it does look pretty expensive. But I'm quite sure there are plenty of other similar events that don't cost as much -- especially in New York!

I'm considering it. I like to stay in on big holidays, though, in my cozy delightful apartment -- probably with Danger Man and a nice meal.

I'm in Toronto and the scene seems pretty dull to me, unless it's clubbing of course which I'm not into any more. I guess it all comes down to people who you want to see on NY's.
