Default Children of friends

If your gaining trust of other friends kids, do you risk that trust by saying things to their parents, or build up a trust in the relationship to talk about such things?

Any other advice on this topic is much appreciated.

Friend is single mom, and has 14 yr old daughter.

That's a tough one. Kudos to you for recognising the importance of your relationship with both mother and daughter.

My advice would be to do whatever is in the best interests of the daughter. If her best interests are served by telling her mother then the daughter will come to realise this. If it's in the daughters best interest to keep things between you then I'm sure the mother would appreciate this and respect you for looking out for her daughter.

I have two girls myself, and while I can't imagine how difficult it must be to be a single parent I would appreciate having someone like you who could help look out for my daughter and do whatever was best for her.
