Default Can you have your cake and eat it too?

Basically my issues involve relationships so that's why I posted it here.

Anyways do you believe you can have your cake and eat it too? Would only an extreme optimist feel this way, or do you think something else about it?

I can. I choose chocolate.

I don't really think you gave enough information here. What part of a relationship=having cake, and what part of a relationship=eating cake?

All these threads about chocolate and cake are making me hungry for sweets dang it.

Well, it does matter if you asked about it. But my answer is still yes.

I like chocolate anything, except for mint chocolate. That is gross.

This place is supposed to be for personal development, and I keep leaving hungry for chocolate. That "I manifested chocolate" thread in the intention-manifestation section always gets me.

Just a useless bit of trivia...

I think the original expression is to eat your cake and have it, too, since that's much more complicated than having a cake and then eating it. If you eat a cake, you can't have it afterwards, but if you have a cake, you can and probably will eat it.

That depends on what kind of cake you like. Some cakes leave a trail of crumbs in their wake, whilst others dont!

That depends on whether having a cake is a necessary and sufficient condition for eating a cake. Not all cakes have been eaten by those who had them; whilst those who have cake don't always eat it. Often the prize is getting the cake, not finishing it.

depends, maybe you can provide more details about the relationship you're looking for.

Are you sure possibly that you are referring to pie instead?

I had an apple pie the other day. I had it, and then I ate it.

It is close enough to cake that I believe it is possible.

I should mention, I didn't eat the whole pie.

Seriously, it's impossible to say anything useful about this unless there is a specific context and application.

Default Depends.

If you're talking about relationships and marriage, then no. If you're talking life and freedom yes, but to some extent the things you want come with restrictions. Perfect example, fame is great, but you'll have to deal with paparazzi.
