Default My son

A poem that came into my head last night after my son climbed into bed with us in the early hours. I hope you like it.

MY SON

Beyond the pane, the elements groan
The wind emits a climatic moan
Beside me here, my son does sleep
Oblivious to the darkness' creep

I glance at him now, a work of art
A joy to behold from the very start
No frown or scowl, a boy at peace
He lies so silent in his slumbers' fleece

Rushing headlong, the mankind race
The future before us sets a challenging pace
Cannot be avoided, it's coming for sure
A search for the truth, a freedom so pure

What beholds for my precious son
Will he fill his life with distance run
One thing for sure, there is no regret
This time with my child I shall never forget

Very well written. "distance run"...reminds me of 'If' by Rudyard Kipling!

Great poem. It is scary for a dad. But amazing...
