| While it may not affect that many people now, I think reducing oil consumption is the thing that would affect the most people overall. For one thing, the potential for climate change seems like a serious problem... and for another, we're wasting a valuable and (effectively) non-renewable resource on... what? Shuttling people back and forth, manufacturing crap nobody really needs, shuttling the crap around... It's not sustainable. Fortunately, it isn't necessary, either. And like it or not, we are going to learn to live without cheap oil... but the transition will be smoother if we start sooner rather than later. |
