Default problem I don't get. Post etiquette?

I seriously don't understand... Some threads generate a relatively large amount of responses while others don't seem to receive even one reply. Are there things that put off people from posting?

Yep, very short and simple.

Sometimes posts just get lost in the shuffle. Or people may not think they have a good answer or advice to offer.

It's nothing personal.

Yeah that seems to be the case. I don't think it's intentional.

Still I'm sure that people will be put off by certain things?

Like what? I have seen some rather interesting and unusual discussions go on here . Is there a particular thread that didn't get a response? Or are you wondering about posting something and how it will be received?

Default Catchy titles=many responses

I mean, look at this forum. If you have "Mail order brides" or "masturbation" or something nice and sordid, then people will definitely answer.

I think also that when people have an issue with something very relatable ppl respond because people like to be experts.

So, maybe you should do a test on why your mail order bride masturbates all the time.

If it has drama or seems to be something that could be made into a reality TV show, it will have 10 pages in no time flat.

I'm not trying to insult the intelligence of the people here. It's that way on every forum I have ever been on.

I tend to stay away from the 'waaa waaa waaa, my life sucks' threads because those types of threads suck the life out of you even as you are trying to help. Your mind should be on as many positive and pleasant things as you can cram in on any given day. Other people's drama will be handled by other people who love drama.

But some threads either don't make sense, are seemingly superficial or, on occasion, don't deserve an answer. Or are out of the realm of what I can write about.

I wouldn't take it personally.

yea I've often wondered the same thing... sometimes I do think the same old "why doesn't s/he love me?" threads get a lot more play than they deserve... but then I guess everyone can relate. I did have a particular thread where I wanted more help- about wondering how to be supportive of a guy I'd been dating who's dad is dying... no one seemed to have anything to say, but maybe that was the answer I needed anyway- that there is no easy formula to communicating... I still have no idea if what I say is more helpful or hurtful, just hoping if it weren't a net positive he wouldn't keep in touch with me as well as he has, hoping he takes everything as sincerly/kindly as it is meant.

I should note that Sanya Weathers, ehm, does not pull punches in her blog posts.
