Cool My sisters I need your help

I want to buy an engagement ring for her. The problem I don't remember how long or large are her fingers. I have been one year abroad for studies, and I will ruin the surprise by asking her. She doesn't know anything about it.

So what delicate way can I use?
Thanks in advance

How exciting! Buy it a little big; it can always be resized, but she will want to be able to slip it onto her finger without forcing it. She's not going to care how it fits, anyway.

Alternatively, you can have her sister or girlfriend do some sneaky sleuthing for you. She can't come right out and ask; that would give it away. But she could borrow some jewelry, couldn't she?

You can pick out rings together and the jeweler will size the ring for you, after measuring your girlfriend's finger to get the proper size.

To make it very special for her, you could visit several jewelry stores in advance on your own and pick a ring (or several) that you like and that you think she will like also. Speak personally to the jeweler and ask him to set aside a few rings, including the ones you like, and set a date with him for an evening on which you will bring your intended in to look at the rings.

Then you can arrange a special date with her. Dinner, dancing, a very romantic evening, during which you invite her to the jewelry store. You'll be making great memories Good luck!

One friend I know got round it this way: He laid the ground work a few days before by mentioning casually how he'd read somewhere that certain streets in Birmingham were famous for their jewellery, so much so that they were known as the jewellery quarter.

He then proposed and when she said yes, gave his girlfriend a gift of an envelope, which contained train tickets to Birmingham, plus a hotel booking. They then went on a special trip to the jewellery quarter and picked out the ring together! AFAIW, she was very happy (most women secretly want to choose their own ring anyway).
